Even if we win this weekend we will probably be the most pessimistic 3-0 fanbase

Very bad, typical Vikings year so far. What happened to all the talk about him only being out 2 weeks on the board? I know people who have had it and its months. Oh well. I think thats it for AD, just like I think it over for Teddy in the long run. Now we are going to need a RB and a QB in the draft, along with an entire Oline. How depressing.

This Vikings squad was obviously too good, so the Football gods are laying the smacketh downeth such that we all end up in our proper place not holding the Lombardi Trophy. Why can't we have nice things?

...Is it bad that I'm used to this?

I'm just not as upset about losing the 1st rounder as most. IF (and admittedly that's still to be determined) Bradford turns out to be an effective QB for us, it will be worth the 1st rounder. If we subscribe to the fact we need to upgrade our OL, then our first rounder would/could have been used on an O Lineman. The last O Lineman we took in the first round was Matt Kalil (just food for thought). But yeah, the rest of it sucks for sure...

I think McKinnon can be our guy going forward. Otherwise Hillman is a good pick-up. Karlos Williams looked like the real deal last year and he's an available FA as well. Don't think we need to draft RB since we just used a 3rd round pick on McKinnon 2 years ago.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME

That's a seriously rough month for any team.

I'm not really upset about the first rounder either. I think it's unexpectedly having to use it that hurts most but if Bradford can give them an answer at QB, he'll be well worth that price. I have a feeling they were going to have to spend a high draft pick on a QB or LT in the next few years anyway, which sort of ties into the rest of your post.

Among other things, it has to be rough on the team from a psychological standpoint.

I believe this was his choice and based on the assumption that they will be in the playoffs come January -- for his return. I saw a quote somewhere that he made this decision off of faith and optimism, so that's why I'm guessing he decided to do the longer-term option. Also made based on the fact that he's a superhuman healer.

If they can hold things together and keep Bradford alive...then getting AD back for a playoff run would be a real shot in the arm.

I didn't want AD to get injured by any means but I don't think it impacts us too much at this point. To put it another way, without AD the first 2 weeks I think we still win both of those games. Obviously time will tell but I am interested in seeing if this forces Norv to be more creative with the playbook.

The only silver lining I can muster to the Kalil news is that it will force us to see what we have on the dump heap. Our MO for the OL has been quantity of players not quality; we acquired lots of middling sorts of guys (otherwise called throwing dung at the wall) so now it's time to see what sticks. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised to see that there's a pearl in the dung heap? :vike:

It sure is. And it has to be seriously difficult for Peterson, Kalil and Bridgewater.

Peterson's injury seems to get more complex every day. It started out as if he might be out a few weeks but we learn today he's undergoing surgery for a condition that might not ever really heal right. Given all that, it's possible he may retire. That's especially true if he'll never be the same again.

Kalil has to be questioning his own career to some extent. The guy has been hurt a lot and presently he's missing almost an entire season. If nothing else, the Vikings staff must be questioning retaining him after this year.

Bridgewater's dreams of stepping up to the next level this year disappeared before the season even started. And now he sees the offense lose two more key players.

I agree. I can't believe what we have is worse than Kalil.

I know what you mean. What bothers me is how much more danger is Sam Bradford in with a replacement at LT?

Also, how much does it adversely affect a running game which has already lost its star RB?

Sorry to be a downer about this but the Vikings OL hasn't been all that good for years.

All that, and yet I am optimistic. I know this. This team will fare better than if the Packers lost the same three players.

I still say 11-5, 12-4 and a playoff run.
