That's indicative of how fantastic Peterson is but it also illustartes something that's been true for a long time: he needs better blocking!
Uh...yes. Though I wish it was quantified by when first contact is coming. If it's at or behind the line of scrimmage consistently (which I think most of it is), that's definitely as indicative of the offensive line's difficulty in creating rushing lanes as it is Peterson's prowess and refusal to go down.
I think he could be 2000 yards closer to the all-time record by now if the Vikes had managed to build a great o-line at some point in the last 8.5 years. He's had some good ones but imagine him running behind an o-line like the one Smith had in front of him for years in Dallas.
In an alternate dimension, that would be so much fun (provided you put a different jersey on that team, of course).

Harrison Smith is really playing well. It feels pretty weird to finally have another elite safety in our midst (though it really makes whoever is lined up next to him look even worse by comparison). It's something we haven't had since maybe Sharper.
