I find it hard to believe *any* Qb talk is a waste of breath where this team is right now...GBFavreFan wrote: I think any Mark Sanchez talk is sort of moot. I haven't heard the slightest whiff of the tiniest rumor that the Vikings even had a fleeting thought about Mark Sanchez. There are no connections between Sanchez and anyone on the Vikings staff and the only 2009 QB Spielman had a hardon for was Josh Freeman and that was already addressed. Until some sort of breaking news comes out of Vikings HQ, I think Sanchez talk at this point is a waste of breath.

Warming up to Garoppolo. Definitely not in the first round though.

Nah, he wont go in the first. I think he will be there for sure when we pick in the second. Unless he knocks it out of the park at the combine and the experts put him in the top 3 too.PacificNorseWest wrote:Warming up to Garoppolo. Definitely not in the first round though.

I think I'm sold on Jimmy Garoppolo. Unless we can get Bridgewater or Manziel to fall at #8, I would rather us go defense. I don't think no QB in this draft is worth trading up for nor reaching for anymore. Garoppolo seems like a developing prospect that can play behind Cassel for a season or two until he gets adjusted.

I am really liking GRaoppolo to the point that I hope we don't pick JFB if he is there at 8 but rather fleece another team and then get Graoppolo when we can. Apart from the QB I hope every draft pick is defense. If we have Cassel Grao and a defense with 2-3 high talent rookies infused into next year. I will be very VERY happy and excited.
Re: Which QB would you want the most in the draft?
I find it funny that so many here are jumping on the Garoppolo bandwagon. If he truly is impressive in all the off-season workouts and especially the combine, I'm going to bet the Vikings are not the only team that will notice. It's like everybody thinks since he's not Bridgewater or Football, he's some top secret that only the Vikings will know about. Sorry, if he's truly looking like a legitimate QB, and the Vikings target him as their guy, they may well have to pull the trigger in the first round or somebody else will snatch him up before they get another shot.
I liken it to all the "genius" trade ideas fans come up with on the call-in shows.
Caller: "I have a great idea. The Vikings need to trade (insert nobody special or late round draft pick) to (insert team) for (insert All-Pro player at position the Vikings need.)"
The other 31 teams do have people in the front office that also watch football.

People, what are the chances that a new HC in his first job is going to hitch his wagon to a second tier drafted QB?IrishViking wrote:I am really liking GRaoppolo to the point that I hope we don't pick JFB if he is there at 8 but rather fleece another team and then get Graoppolo when we can. Close to zero, I say.

After the Fiesta Bowl I have a sense that the Vikings might draft Bortles if he is there at their pick. "In the Fiesta Bowl on January 1, Bortles accounted for four touchdowns while throwing for 301 yards and running for 93 more.
At 6'4" and 229 pounds, he has drawn comparisons to Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger due to his scrambling abilities and will almost certainly be selected in the top five."

He is the wild card in our draft equation. I did catch an interesting tidbit a few days ago, someone was saying the front office was really researching the QB's hard in this draft, and that I believe.

As a Gamecock fan I hope that somebody gives Connor Shaw a chance. He would be a nice late round pick as a utility backup.
