Which QB would you want the most in the draft?

Re: Which QB would you want the most in the draft?
I'm torn between Teddy and Johnny, however, it probably doesn't matter since we likely won't have a chance at either and there is a 0% chance that they would both be available. I would be happy with either if one of them somehow got to 8 though.
I don't want Bortles or Carr that early in the draft. I'd much rather draft Mettenberger or Garoppolo in round 2 or 3.

To me, it really isn't a question. Bridgewater may not be Andrew Luck, but hell, he has the biggest upside here as far as a PURE passer. Manziel may have more upside as a playmaker, but Bridgewater is the better passer. If Bridgewater falls to eight, this team better have its pick in within a minute!

After looking at Johnny Football, I'm not to keen with him anymore. He just a happy footed player who is eventually going to take a hit like RG3 did to limit his game. I'd take Bortles or Bridgewater.
Re: Which QB would you want the most in the draft?
I'm not going to pretend like a know a lot about any of these guys. I have watched some video on some of them.
Bridgewater makes me nervous. He has not played that much top-flight college competition and his release dosn't seem too quick to me. He kind of has that long windup. I see him as maybe another Geno. The best of a not so great crop. I hope he's gone so the Vikings don't have to make the call on him.
I just don't know what to think of Manziel; and it seem like many others don't either. I don't remember such a wide variety of opinions on a kid. Everything from HOFer to complete disaster. I know he won't be able to freelance in the NFL like he has in college.
And come on. It's stupid to expect Carr to be a flop just because his brother was.
I kind of like PA's idea. Take a defensive stud with the first round pick and then go QB in the second round. Maybe Garoppolo. Maybe Bortles slips that far.
There just isn't an Andrew Luck in this draft. I don't know that any of these guys are worth the 8th pick. Much less trading a pick away to move up for them.

Re: Which QB would you want the most in the draft?
Jimmy Garoppolo, Aaron Murray, Jeff Matthews or Keith Wenning
I've come around to where I don't really want any of the first round QB prospects(at least in the 1st). None of them are anything close to a safe bet, and I just don't want them to gamble on this. If you force me I'll say Bridgewater, because I know Manziel doesn't fit the Turner archetype. If I were calling the shots though, I'd skip em all and aim for one of the guys listed above. With Turner on board to help iron out the wrinkles I'd be more comfortable with that.

Someone please give me a thorough explanation on why drafting Derek Carr is such a bad idea?

Re: Which QB would you want the most in the draft?
I posted this in another thread a week or so ago. The numbers show He struggles against pressure and the Blitz, his accuracy is highly inflated by passes under 10 yards, over that it becomes spotty... downright terrible on throws of 20+ yards(which really puts a damper on that Cannon he's got)King James wrote:Someone please give me a thorough explanation on why drafting Derek Carr is such a bad idea?
They charted every throw of Bridgewater, Manziel, Bortles & Carr, and broke them down all kinds of factors. It's pretty interesting. Here's the link, charts displayed below

I think if Manziel or Teddy are there at 8 then there is no doubt you take them. If not, wait and look to take Garoppolo in the 2nd.
MY QB BIG BOARD:
1.) Manziel
2.) Bridgewater
3.) Garappolo
4.) Bortles
5.) Carr
6.) Boyd
7.) Mettenberger
8.) Murray
9.) McCarron
10.) Fales

Re: Which QB would you want the most in the draft?
I hear ya but you have to remember...if we pass on drafting a QB at 8, technically those QB needy teams (Hou, Cle, Oak, Jax, and possibly TB) will have TWO shots (early in the 1st and early in the 2nd) at getting the QB they want before us we pick in the 2nd. We also can't forget about Tennessee's 1st round pick because they could also snag a QB. The more I look at it, I just can't see Garoppolo falling to the 3rd. But who knows, anything can happen. Scouts have just been raving over this guy. I think I have a man crush on himPurplemania wrote: I'm digging Garoppolo too. Don't know if I'd take him in the 2nd though. I would not mind going defense with the first 2 pick, then taking Jimmy in the 3rd. David Fales might be a steal too in the later draft. Honestly if Manziel or Bridgewater is gone by 8th, I would probably go this route.

Yeah, like Pondering said above, there are other teams out there looking at QBs. If his stock is rising, Garoppolo won't last until the 3rd round. I hope if the Vikings want him, he's there when they pick in the 2nd.Purplemania wrote: I'm digging Garoppolo too. Don't know if I'd take him in the 2nd though. I just don't think it really matters who's there with the 8th pick. I wouldn't feel good about the Vikings taking any of these guys #1. Go defense first and see if Jimmy or somebody else you like is there in the 2nd.
Drafting a QB is always a gamble. Go for a more likely hit in another area of dire need and hope you can land a guy they'll compare to Russell Wilson or Kap with a later round selection.
