His offense certainly isn't bland in Seattle. You work with what ya got.

I'm not sure. With his veteran statis he may make a great QB coach if he doesn't start.

Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to reject this just because he has the Childress stink on him. I'll admit, the idea was extremely sickening to me when I first saw that report but it could actually be an interesting route. He's spent the last few years in Seattle and that team has become one of the best in the league. He's worked with Wilson, so he's had a hand in developing a young rising star QB. He's worked alongside Pete Carroll who is kind of an anti-Childress, in that he's successful and charismatic.

If the Wilfs and Spielman liked Bevell while he was our OC, then contacting him for an interview is kind of a no-brainer. The more candidates they interview the better. If I was Spielman, I would want to talk to as many people as possible and get all of their thoughts on the direction this team needs to take. Good opportunity to pick the brains of a lot of good football minds.

He deserves credit for finding a diamond in the rough and convincing the team to take him, but seems like that had more to do with college connections and pure dumb luck then anything. And not sure how much developing you have to do with a guy like that.

We had to hear when Childress and Musgrave were hired how amazing they were at developing young QBs...

I hope we stay away from the Gruden, Roman, Bevell types that ride some pretty darn good personnel to new jobs...

So could you. He is another one of Spielmans busts. In rd 5. Spielman, master of the draft lol.

I just looked to see if there were many players taken after Locke that would have been better picks for the Vikings. Literally a few picks later there is "Micah Hyde, CB, Iowa" by the Packers. I know I've seen him a quite of bit on special teams, but is/was he contributing much on defense?

I think he was their punt returner and I think he took one to the house for us. Pretty sure he was the slot CB as Casey Hayward went down.

I would have to hear him say he would not be running the core of the cover 2, before I would even consider supporting it. The last 2 teams he coached for run some form of it, Vikings, Seahawks. The Seahawks have the personal for it, the Vikings do not.

Lets keep the Childress "Kick a$$ offense" era in the past, thank you! :nono:
Darrell Bevell's offensive scheme isn't Brad Childress's offensive scheme.

It's the one they're running in Seattle.

And no, I'm not in favor of signing Bevell mainly because the Vikings fan and media reaction would be really annoying. Other than that, apparently his current offense isn't doing too badly with a guy they didn't even have to draft with a top 10 pick. Third rounder, undersized. Somehow under Bevell he's become one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

Hard to call a bad game with that talent. But he tries. Him and Gruden do/did nothing for me. Roman has talent too, but at least you see some interesting plays and calls out of him.

And let's not forget his great job adjusting his offense to Joe Webb when Ponder went down.
Probably too much to expect a OC to adjust their scheme/play calls on a week to week basis though. Much less during a game...

Is Roman also Musgrave or does he have a Webb and Ponder too?
