Would you want to work for an organization with as much public presence as the Vikings that airs all of it's dirty laundry in the public square? For that matter as a prospective Free Agent player, coach, or GM, would you want to work for them?

IMO, the media games they are playing are all well and good and are a result of the vultures, err I mean sports media, not a result of some malicious intent towards the fan base.

LOL...wow, I guess it's going to be a long off-season around here.

IMO, all the Chilly bashers needed a release valve. That is what this reminds me of, other than the fact there is no Childress.

Webbfann wrote:How? Just because Frazier did a small number of things adequately doesn't change his overall performance. I can get 10 or even 20 questions right on a test with 100 questions. To you that is shades of gray (hey, I got 10 or 20 RIGHT so its not ALL bad!!!), but it in fact its about the lowest F possible. The 10 don't carry equal weight with the other 90, but in your gray view they do.
Sooooo .... just spitballing here, if you were to take, say 100 quarts of paint, and say oh 10 or 20 were black and the rest were white, and you were to mix them all together .....

Foolishness aside, at the end of the day I did not like Frazier as a HC and was glad he was fired from the team I root for. I did not think all his parts added up to the level of an NFL coach that I wanted coaching the team I root for. I did not think he has what it takes to be an NFL coach, but that does not mean he had no redeeming qualities. Just that sentence in and of itself has so many gray areas it's not even funny.

Spielman, for me, is dancing on top of the fence. It's not going to take much for him to go either way IMO.

Point being at the end of the day these guys do not completely suck at what they do. They may or may not have the goods for MY or YOUR liking, but those are simply tiny opinions. I think it's a very good thing that Spielman picked CP. You may think it's absolutely the greatest pick of all time, or you may think CP is a punk and will be off the team in a year. Those are all pretty arbitrary gray areas regarding our view of Spielman's job performance, and for you it may outweigh the fact he's picked some clunkers. And it may not. Gray.

You're still hung up on Childress? Wow. It certainly must have been a long three years for you.

How are you with the Mike Tice firing?

LOL @ this thread. Immediately after the firing of Frazier I had the urge to rant about the Black and White vision so many fans seem to view the NFL in, when in reality a lot of the issues discussed on this website usually fall more into grey category. But I knew there were a few posters that would agree with me, or at least appreciate the sentiment, but beyond that the thread would likely just turn into another Frazier bashing argument, so I decided to just keep my thoughts to myself. Not even a week later, the words are almost completely ripped out of my mouth

9-7, 8-8, 9-7.
Worst record was his first, 6-10. Better than Frazier or Childress's worst record.

Considering the owner was more worried about the cap floor than limit, Tice had no cap support, no front office support, no facilities support. Lowest coaching pay roll, scouting etc. And managed that. Then Zygi follows it up with Childress and Frazier.

But then, it all goes back to the QB. Johnson/Culpepper is better than anyone Childress/Frazier ever had.

:(

Can we get Mike Tice and an average QB back? Those were the days...

Childress and Tice were both 6-10 in their first season (2006&2002)

Childress had 3 wins in his worst, Frazier had 3 wins in his worst.
Tice had 6.
My point was the worst record Tice had was better than the worst record Childress or Frazier had. With zero support anywhere else from ownership.
And Tice is a neanderthal.

Childress never had a 3 win season. And I know what you're referring to, but 10 games does not make a season

I like Tice just fine. He did quite well under the penny pinching conditions you state. In my opinion, he truly was not fired for performance. He just could not survive the Love Boat scandal (unfair to him) on top of the Super Bowl ticket scalping scandal (poor judgment on his part). Then the Wilf's got a disciplinarian with full control of the roster who unfortunately was a poor coach. In hindsight, staying with Tice may have been better. But it's only hindsight. Plenty here will argue convincingly Tice did not have the chops.

Great offense under Tice but horrible discipline and non-existent clock awareness. I would take him as OC under a strong HC who could force him to fix those issues, but those problems are just too glaring as a HC.

He was officially put "on the clock" the minute Frazier was let go.
How did he do? I think with another solid draft, which would make three in a row, Spielman would/has solidified his place with the organization and I could easily see Zygi giving him a nice extension. :)
