No Broyles is good for us. They've got Calvin Johnson (who the Vikings are shockingly good at containing with the exception of one monster game he averages like 60 yards against us?), Nate Burlson and a 3rd round "Who?" draft pick.

Maybe, but he's the first RB playmaker they've had in a while. Best, LeShoure, Smith...it seems like the Lions have been searching for a while. His skill set fits in very well with what that offense does.

I'm pumped, less than an hour to go! :smilevike:

Best looked good before that nasty concussion. Pretty sure he has had a 1000 yard season.

Mistral Raymond - DB - Vikings

Vikings declared SS Mistral Raymond, QB Mcleod Bethel-Thompson, LB Gerald Hodges, LB Michael Mauti, OG Jeff Baca, DE George Johnson and DT Kevin Williams inactive for Sunday's opener against the Lions.

Raymond was able to return to a full practice Friday, but is still dealing with a shoulder injury. He'll be used in a rotation with Jamarca Sanford when healthy. Williams (knee) was ruled out early in the week and is currently without a timetable to return.

Mikel Leshoure - RB - Lions

Lions declared RB Mikel Leshoure, WR Ryan Broyles, QB Kellen Moore, CB Jonte Green, OG Leroy Harris, OT LaAdrian Waddle, and DE Devin Taylor inactive for Week 1 against the Vikings.

A year after rushing for 798 yards and nine touchdowns, Leshoure is a healthy scratch. He's been behind Joique Bell for months now. Broyles is still not completely over his knee issues as he recovers from back-to-back ACL tears. Nate Burleson and Patrick Edwards will serve as the Lions' top two receivers behind Calvin Johnson. Ziggy Ansah (concussion) is active and starting.

I just don't feel good about this... Detroit has a lot of talent, and the Viings have a history of playing poorly to teams with a lot of talent...
Detroit 24
Minnesota 13

Who will be covering Calvin Johnson?
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." ‪#‎SKOL2018

Hope we have a great game and see lots of positives. Since we have a number of new people and this is a new season, just a reminder to keep things in this thread during the game.
During games, there is usually a game thread going on. Please keep in-game discussion to that thread and refrain from starting new threads about specific plays, etc. If you're doing an in-depth analysis of a couple of plays later, that's worth a new thread, but a simple "that was a great/awful play" should be put in the game thread.

Sing along everybody!

It's beginning to look a lot like Purple
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look east of Hennepin, where our hopes are up again
With Viking swag and plastic bags to show.
It's beginning to look a lot like Purple
First round picks galore
But the prettiest sight to see in two-thousand and sixteen
Will be style reborn.

A set of strong touchback boots and a QB that shoots
Is the wish of Blair Walsh and Christian;
Plus all kinds of scores from our new 84
Is the hope for Cordarrelle as planned;
And we can hardly wait for 2500 from Adrian.

It's beginning to look a lot like Purple
Ev'rywhere you go;
Wear our horns and colors well, scream out "Musgrave, go to hell!"
Bid good riddance to the urinal trough that blows.
It's beginning to look a lot like Purple;
Soon the chase will start,
And the thing that will make it sing is our first World Champions ring,
If we get that far!
