Vikings @ Broncos Gameday Discussion Thread -- Week 4

Post by yezzir »

Good Morning and Skol!!!

Betting Line / Total: Denver -6.5 / 43 Points

My prediction:

It will be a huge day for our linebackers and Harrison Smith. This game will be about taking good angles and stopping yards after the catch.
I can also see a handful of those patented Manning 25-30 yard sideline passes when he puts a lot of air under the ball and gets pass interference calls.

The key will be solid tackling after the catch, and not a lot of flags on defense.

Peterson is gonna have a big day, 140 yards, 1 TD. So will Harrison Smith. He will pick off one of those Payton wobblers.

Vikings 19, Broncos 16

I am salty.

This will be the first game this season I will be able to watch at least 75% of the game and I cannot watch it because stupid #### Green Bay vs. San Fran is on TV instead of Denver vs. Minnesota. It is dumb as hell that I have to watch a team I hate vs. a #### team instead of good game between the team I love and a team who is 3-0.

Anyway, Skol Vikings. We are going to win. 21 to 17. Book it.

I'm more afraid of Ware and Miller against the pass than the run. I'd like to see Ellison or Shepherd playing to the right of Clemmings today, along with Rudolph and Pruitt. Double team Miller and slide protection left...but mostly just shove the ball right at them in 2 and 3 TE sets with Peterson all day.

I'd like to use Wallace and Patterson out wide to keep pressure on their defense laterally and vertically. I would have a particularly unsophisticated game plan for passing today. Also, both those guys can be a threat on sweeps, which if nothing else could buy an extra couple inches of space for Peterson up the middle.

Defensively I am hopeful. This team has played very well defensively now for two weeks. Just keep it going. Manning will be getting the ball out immediately, pass defense should be aggressive jumping underneath routes giving manning nowhere to throw the ball. lots of man defense and pressing their WRs. I'm sure they'll be running pick plays and we'll need to do a better job against those than we did last week. I'm guessing handling those better was a point of emphasis after the SD game.

Maybe they'll switch once GB is up by 39 in the 2nd QTR?

I'm ticked about that too. We're getting GB vs. SF here. Two of the last three league MVPs will be on the field in Denver in what should be a good game and CBS seems to think Chicago is "Packer country". :wallbang:

I don't know if this is appropriate but there are sites you can stream the game on. What they do is illegal but it isn't illegal for you to watch it. Morally its your call but I pay for the service and when it cant show me the game I want I tend to get frustrated with the crazy money I am shelling out.

I am excited for the game though. Since it will be an afternoon one I can watch it at home for once rather than at work!

I don't like streaming games that way. I subscribe to NFL GamePass so when the game's not on TV I just listen to the radio broadcast, catch what I can on NFL RedZone and then watch the whole broadcast later at NFL.com. It's not as much fun as watching the entire game live but I still get to experience it as it happens.

I think we see a bad game today, with our LBs and DBs getting torched. But I think we ultimately only only lose by 13.

I doubt Teddy learned a lot in one week. And this defense is going to be keyed up. I am really hoping for fair official play and no one gets hurts (other then some of the bad guys, who recover almost immediately following the game.)

My expectations have tempered with this team and I'm more realistic as opposed to being just a biased homer...Having said that, I think today presents a great challenge and I have the feel as of now that their youth and inexperience loses them this game. They play tough and it stays close, but in the end, Manning gets the best of 'em.

Denver's defense is the best in the league, in my opinion, and Teddy will have to play damn near perfect and be uber-efficient. He hasn't shown so far that he's able to do that, but also make great decisions to exploit a defense when the opportunity presents itself.

With all that being said, I can see a scenario where they play their minds out...The defense plays lights out and the offense plays consistent and they pull out the W...

I'm excited for this game to see if they can pull out that unlikely scenario, but also because even in a loss, this can show them and us a lot about where this team really is in year 2 of Zimmer. Great and unique challenge...Should be fun.

Glad Rhodes is back. I think they're going to have to play a lot of press in this game as Manning generally gets rid of the ball very quickly. Should be a good test to see how far this team has come, away game against a good team. Looking forward to it.

ARGH I did it again, I thought this was a noon game. No wonder it's so quiet around here. I could have slept in.... (it's 6:55am here)
