Ponder's Done
Frazier is saying he doesn't anticipate controversy, but I think it is over. All Cassel needs is another 50 yards or so.
A 250+ yard, 2 touchdown, no turnover game would do the trick. Cassel to Jennings in 3 quarters has more touchdowns
than Ponder to every wide receiver on the team in his first 3 games.

You can see it in Ponder's face on the sideline. He knows it.

Re: Ponder's Done
Cassel just audibled out of a stuffed run into a 9 yard gain on a slant route to Simpson to
extend the last series of play for the Vikings and salt away the game.
Ponder wouldn't do that in his whole career.
To my mind, Ponder is through. You can't start him over Cassel.

Re: Ponder's Done
I've seen stupid stuff happen before but the team would have to really dumb to start Ponder now
Re: Ponder's Done
Ponder's rib injury just turned into a long recovery time
Re: Ponder's Done
During the game they said Frazier said Ponder is starting when he's healthy. So yeah either we're the dumbest franchise ever or Ponder is going to have to have a looooooong recovery like Crax said xD. He'll be recovered once Cassel has a couple bad games in a row.

Re: Ponder's Done
If Ponder starts the next game, I wont even bother to watch it.

It's at the dome, so can you imagine how loud the boo's will be? For Frazier.

Re: Ponder's Done
We have, I think, the worst coaching staff in the NFL, and it starts with Fraizer. I have no doubt he will put Ponder in for starter next game.
Re: Ponder's Done
We're cursed.
No top 3 pick.
No playoffs.
It continues.

I agree I wouldn't be surprised if they give ponder the starter back after the bye week
no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Re: Ponder's Done
I don't think Ponder will start, they can ride the injury for at least another game. Cassel played great, especially with less than a week playing with the 1's. It will be interesting to see how he does with more time getting the majority of the reps and against a pretty good Carolina defense. He overthrew a few, Patterson bailed him out early, and the fumble bounced our way but it's really night and day between he and Ponder right now.
People were saying he would get hit a lot today but I think he only took a few and the reason was he was able to get the ball out quickly and decisively. When there was a pocket, he actually stayed calm and gave his receivers time to get open. If you watch Jennings second TD catch, Cassel does a very good job of waiting for Jennings to make his double move and throwing the football with perfect timing.
What's really bad is that the coaching staff would have had Ponder playing today if it wasn't for his ribs. We can't see practices but the coaches should have known Cassel was the guy who gave this team a better chance of winning, it's really not even a competition right now.

Re: Ponder's Done
Breaking news ..... our genius coach just adamantly declared Ponder our starter in a post game interview on WCCO. In fact he laughed at the question as if David McCoy were high.

Re: Ponder's Done
I still don't buy it. Frazier's job is on the line and after he watches the film I think Cassel will start, even if he wants to guise it under the injury circumstances.#Vikings coach Leslie Frazier says he does not anticipate discussing QB situation during bye. "Christian Ponder is our quarterback."
