2013 Practice/Notes thread

Post by dead_poet »

Hmm...
Desmond Bishop told me he's having a meeting with coaches today to discuss his role vs Detroit. He's not on special teams. #Vikings
Desmond Bishop told me he's around 239lbs (listed at 244). Said he's "more like 2010" Desmond now. Wants to play lighter, faster. #Vikings

Jamarca Sanford said he's going to try and talk Antoine Winfield into returning to Vikings.

Returning from a concussion, it looks like receiver Jarius Wright is the backup return man. Worked behind CP/Sherels today fielding kicks.

Greg Jennings stayed after practice to work with Xavier Rhodes and Jamarca Sanford. Inside the mind of a WR was the lesson. Scary stuff.
Sanford on Jennings helping the DBs after practice: "He’s just giving us a few tips from a good vet.”

That's dumb, they need to just bench Marvin Mitchell or atleast have them share reps.

Not really a surprise that we don't know if he'll start or even play LB against the Lions. I don't expect an announcement from anyone. It's good that the Vikings don't have him on special teams, coming off a major injury and missed season. STs is mostly for backups and the young and hungry players.

I also like they way he's thinking with regard to his weight - it's exactly how he should be thinking while playing WLB in a 4-3.

... :D
"You've got a linebacker, a safety and a corner all in one," Sanford said. "Every time we turned on tape, if he's on the field, 26 has a highlight."
That's the truth! He probably won't come back, but he was fun to watch. I'm going to miss him a lot. Going to miss him even more when I see our guys missing tackles left and right--because I know it's going to happen. What's a Vikings game without missed tackles? It's especially frustrating when multiple guys miss tackles right in a row--just bouncing off the guy like he's some sort of machine. It gets downright ugly and embarrassing at times! I'm going to think of Winfield each time, and wish he'd been out there. Honestly, I just love the man. He limits some of my yelling at the TV on Sundays.

If this team could get Favre out of retirement. They should be able to get anybody out of retirement...lol

Seriously. All they had to do was stroke his ego a little.

^^^^^ EXACTLY!!!! The Vikings have shown in recent years that they have no problem overpaying old veteran players. Some of you guys are making it seem like Favre was just so ready to be a Viking. Not only did we pad his wallet, we sent 3 players to his home to beg him to get off the sofa, and allowed him to play the waiting game for so long that he didn't even have to attend training camp. Our coach at the time was even nice enough to pick him up from the airport and drive him to the facilities.

With that being said, if the Vikings can put up with the bs they did to bring Favre in, bringing Winfield in should be a cakewalk.

Desmond Bishop told me that coaches said he likely won't play vs Detroit. "Just waiting for my opportunity." #Vikings
