So who can tell me what the nfl will do on military day in the nfl when a player scores and gives the military section a salute.
I dare any ref to throw the flag and say 15 yards for military saluting.DUMB #### nfl.

No more sack dances? Like, Jared's "calf roping" even if his knee doesn't touch the ground?

Yes, let's take more fun out of the game.

A LOT of players are going to get fined for the spinning the ball one. I see that in almost every game (often multiple times/game).

No POINTING? Really? POINTING?

And the spiking is almost a part of the game itself. How do you tell a player he cannot spike the ball after scoring? Unless this is outside of the end zone rules?

No throwing the ball? What will quarterbacks do with it, then? You can't "shove" it in the running back's chest for a handoff? (okay, I'm kidding with this one).

The celebrations are part of the game. Come on, man!

I'm glad that they plan on cracking down on this foolishness. Don't let this league become anything like the NBA.

Why ask (make that insist) that players on and off the field act like adults and role models, and then allow them to act like children (if you're naïve) or street thugs on game day?

it's ridiculous that's why. it's a GAME! it's fun remember. here's the part that drives me nuts. fans are allowed to act like idiots. yelling, screaming, high fiving, dancing around, taunting others etc. and they don't do anything! they have zero to do with the game. but that's all fine and dandy and grown up and mature.

but hey. they guys busting their #### day in and day out better not spike the ball or salute the crowd because that is childish and not being a role model?! please. it's a joke. you know how hard it is to score a td in the nfl? i don't because it's nearly impossible to MAKE the nfl. let the guys celebrate with their team just like we expect the fans to celebrate with other fans.

i guess if spiking the ball, saluting the crowd, spinning the ball, or pointing is acting like a "street thug"....then count me in for wanting more thuggery.

give me a break! when did people start taking things so damn seriously. here's a thought. maybe be more concerned by what's happening with drunk idiots all over the stadium and what my kids have to see and hear when unfortunate enough to sit next to these morons and worry a little less about the thuggery of spiking a football after a td.

jesus. :wallbang:
i'm ready for a beer.

Really? Spiking the ball is acting like children/thugs? I do that sometimes when playing flag football. I had no idea I was leading such a gangsta lifestyle.

*looks for m' hoes*

Yes cus in a game where 300+ pound men hit and tackle each other as hard as they can you never want to hurt their feelings by spinning the ball or saluting

Brian McCarthy ‏@NFLprguy
to clear up bad info re: td celebrations like military salute/spinning ball: only flagged if player does it directly @ opponent
Basically, they're trying to get rid of the taunting and the "in your face" crap. Unsportsmanlike conduct. Like it says.

Just change the rule so they all have to find the nearest ref and hand them the ball already...

I'm not a Goodell fan whatsoever. Some of these are just a little too silly, but overall it's making something that shouldn't be a big deal into proposal to make players his robots. It's annoying.

Relax, people. This is getting blown way out of proportion. Like Eli pointed out, this only applies to stuff directed at an opposing player. I agree with that. Celebrating is fine, rubbing it in someone's face is immature and I can't fault the league for wanting to eliminate that.
