Injuries Around The NFL.

Post by Funkytown »

Training camp is just the beginning...

We've already heard of Harvin and his *possible* injury, but I got texts from ESPN about two more.

*****Dennis Pitta (Ravens TE)- suffered dislocated hip, ruled out for season opener

*****Jeremy Maclin (Eagles WR)- suffered torn ACL in right knee, of course, out for season

Now they are saying Pitta is done for the season--not just the opener. Hmm.

A couple big weapons going down early.

I hope the Vikes stay healthy!

That most certainly would be nice! We could use the extra help! :)

I just read that Shank was at the Ravens practice. Maybe he'll get a bit of a shot there now that Pitta is out. That'll be interesting.

Hopefully Guion's elbow isn't anything serious.

What happened to Guion? Didn't read anything about that yet.

All I got for injury news is that the Broncos starting center (Koppen) tore his ACL now, too!

Oh, and Shiancoe did sign with the Ravens as I expected.

Baltimore's Rookie OL brooke his foot and is expected to miss most of the season
if not all of it.

Hopefully Guion's elbow isn't anything serious.

The only positive is we might get Shariff Floyd on the field more then...

I am hoping he can really get massive pressure up the middle; that will make
Jarad Allen and Robison so much more effective.

Guion said yesterday he'll be fine.

Packers T Bulaga down for season with torn ACL.
We’re still several days away from the first full weekend of preseason action, and yet another player is done for the duration.

Per a league source, Packers left tackle Bryan Bulaga has indeed suffered a torn ACL in his knee.

The injury happened during Saturday night’s intra-squad scrimmage. Bulaga didn’t miss a rep, but he complained about a problem with the knee after the practice.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported that Bulaga has a knee injury, and that the team feared it could end his season.

Word out of Packers training camp is that rookie David Bakhtiari just might be better, although it could be too early for him to start at left tackle. The Packers look like they drafted a real gem in the 4th round.

Ya, the crazy thing is Bulaga getting injured might be a blessing in disguise for the Pack... It's not like he was some elite LT in-waiting. If he was a legitimate starting LT then he would have had the job for the past two years instead of Newhouse, who was drafted in the same year as Bulaga (2010) but much later (Bulaga 1st, Newhouse 5th)

David Bakhtiari - T - Packers

The Packers are giving fourth-rounder David Bakhtiari the first chance to replace Bryan Bulaga (ACL) at left tackle.

Bakhtiari struggled when on an island at Colorado last season, possibly because he was undersized (6'4/299) even at the NCAA level. Now the Packers are asking him to step in on Aaron Rodgers' blind side and leaving turnstile Marshall Newhouse on the right side. It's a concern, but Bakhtiari will get plenty of help and the Journal-Sentinel points out that left tackle spot can be overrated in terms of importance. The last five left tackles of the Super Bowl champs have been Bryant McKinnie, David Diehl, Chad Clifton, Jermon Bushrod and Max Starks. None can be considered elite.

Yeah, from what I heard on NFL Network last night--the Packers aren't exactly excited about this, and they're discussing some possible shifting around within the o-line. Either way, I hope they struggle. I love seeing Rodgers go down.
