Drat. I always had high hopes for Love. I liked what I saw in him in limited action.

DeMarcus Love - T - Free Agent

Vikings waived G/T DeMarcus Love.

Love came off a four-game PED suspension on Tuesday, but the Vikes are moving on. Injuries have prevented the 2011 sixth-round pick from ever appearing in a game.

I was wondering what they were going to do with Love after he served his suspension, especially after picking up J'Marcus Webb.

Yeah Ponder is done. I watch this and Frazier's press conference. He's putting Cassel against Ponder for the starting spot this upcoming Sunday. Freeman will probably be in the mix next week when he catches up to speed. Looks like Frazier and company finally woke up.

You know it's bad when it comes to "I'm a man of faith and god has his plan for me." No disrespect to those that are religious here but unless he's praying to the Frazier and Spielman gods I think he's screwed.

Video of Frazier's latest Q&A, which consists primarily of questions about QB:

At the moment, they're saying Ponder is still their starter when healthy.

I think he's referring to the fact that he believes God holds his future (whether or not that is a QB for the Vikings) and so he's not going to worry about it (my paraphrase).
I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!

Do you buy it, Jim? This whole situation is going to fuel tons of speculation on the board, of course. But, WTH, that's half the fun, right?

He also said it was "on the table" that Freeman would be in the mix (considered) as a starter not for this Sunday, but next Sunday.

His line "Christian is a professional" is an interesting one.

My bet? Cassel plays vs. Carolina b/c Ponder's ribs are too sore. Freeman starts vs. Giants and thereafter so long as he plays well. If he looks terrible, they'll put in CP if he's healthy and Cassel if not.

What happens if Cassel absolutely lights it up this weekend?

This is all going to be very, very interesting.

Right!

I don't know if I buy it. They've invested a great deal of time and effort into Ponder so I doubt they're eager to just give up on him. They could be thinking anything from "it's time to move on" to "maybe he'd benefit from some time on the bench, out of the spotlight" to "Let's give him one more shot and see if the pressure of having Freeman behind him on the roster brings out the best in him". I guess only the Vikes know for sure.

You can say that again. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens!

#Vikings player told me Matt Cassel was running with the ones in walkthrough today. Remember, Christian Ponder still dealing with rib injury

Ron Rivera says #Panthers are going in assuming Cassel will start Sunday. Says too many plays that expose QB with rib injury to risk it.

Vikings WR Greg Childs told me he's getting closer to coming back from bilateral patellar tendon tear 14.5 months ago. No timeline yet.
