Why not compromise and run the pistol instead of shotgun? This would give Peterson his desired running start. I recall the Vikings using some pistol formations but seem to have strayed from it as of late.

They have tried it, but Peterson hasn't looked any more comfortable in it.

Adrian Peterson hates all guns. Loves letters (specifically "I").

Perhaps we could try the Wing T?

I haven't charted it, but it seemed like they passed more from under center last week. Two thoughts about that. First, the 4-3 seems to pose fewer challenges to this offense than the 3-4. Second, Teddy got smacked A LOT after getting rid of the ball.
Frankly, that's what I expected against a 4-3, and I think we'll see a lot of that against the bears as well. Probably fewer snaps from the shotgun and more play action from under center against a D with less of a pass rush. Actually, think this game could be an "offensive explosion" of sorts for the Vikings. Peterson will have his best game of the year and they'll score more than 30 points.

Percentage of carries "stuffed" for zero or fewer yards among RBs with 11.5 or more attempts per-game (Avg: 20.7%).

That just simply shows me how bad the run blocking is and how we struggle to pick up run blitzes just like we struggle to pick up pass blitzes
Yet he's STILL 4th in the league in rushing yards and 2 of the 3 in front of him still haven't gone on bye. If he's "diminished" or "doesnt have it anymore", than his rushing yards would be MUCH lower than what they are given how bad the run blocking is

I wonder why they haven't tried split backs with peterson and asiata/mckinnon. I think they could run some interesting running plays or sweeps outta that formation along with screens to either side while faking a run, or just normal play action.
That would require some brain activity from turner, sorry

Trade him..
Adrian Peterson Yards After Contact Per Attempt By Year: 2007 3.1, 2008 3.2, 2009 3.0, 2010 3.1, 2011 3.1, 2012 3.9, 2013 3.0, 2015 2.2.
...
I'm only kidding. I don't want to trade him at all. I
did, but that drama is over. I want him to be a Viking for his entire career. Probably won't happen, because we rarely see that anymore, but I think it'd be nice...

Yards through 7 games in 2015..... 633
Yards through 7 games in 2012..... 657
Finished with 2,097.
Let this beast get going.

I am one of the main people that has been discouraged by AD and wanting to trade him. Thanks for bring up that stat line, I was unaware that he is on the same kind of pace he was on in 2012. Now, I don't believe he will put up 2000 yards, but I can see how he can still contribute to the team.

That stat line is a little deceptive, though. Through 7 games in 2012, Peterson rushed for 652 yards on 136 carries (4.8 ypa). He currently has 19 less yards (633) on 4 more carries (140), so his ypa=4.5. So even in the 'slow' part of his season (Peterson would eventually average 6 ypa for the season) he was still gaining more yardage than this year. Not saying he
couldn't do it, but he would have to "go off" even more than he did in 2012.
I do agree that he can contribute to the team. Only Adrian Peterson can have a 4.5 ypa average and have that be considered a 'slow start.'
