Nice to see Zach Moore out of Concordia St Paul was drafted in the 6th by the Pats. Hope he does well. Taken right out of the Vikes back yard.

I work at CSP and have had the pleasure of speaking a little with Mr. Moore. From what I have gathered he came into college with a bad attitude but turned it around and for the last couple of years has been an absolute standout at CSP both on and off the field. Very nice respectful young man I wish him and his daughter nothing but the best.

Listening to Ricks last presser about the draft, notable things

They'll try exum at safety. He's a press corner but they feel he can play safety and they want "cover guys" on the back end.

David Yankey - we just thought he was the BPA on our board and too good a value to pass up.

Kendall james - young athletic corner and another "cover guy" with good feet, talent to develop.

shamar stephen - was here in our top 30, strong physical nose tackle, high on our board when picking in the 7th. He sometimes slide into the 3 technique, versatile, will compete for a backup role

Brandon Watts - a little bit under the radar, slipped him in the top 30, ran a 4.41 40 on their watch, athletic kid, didn't get invited to combine but we worked him out. Reminded them of Gerald hodges, core special teams player in college.

Jabari Price - another guy who ran 4.4, big corner, can be physical in the press, good recovery speed if a receiver does get a step on him.

Overall theme was to get good character guys with athletic ability

I have this same feeling. Zimmer wants safetys that can cover TE's so that he can blitz more linebackers and get pressure. No more of our safetys sitting back in cover 2 every play. I think Exum will actually excel in this role and will take over our SS before long.

Well they'll be no shortage of players competing at safety that's for sure. Sanford, Coleman, Sendejo, Raymond, Blanton, Exum, Bishop.... basically 7 guys competing for one starting spot and special teams. Same with the linebackers. We're going to see some battles in training camp.

Different scheme so they could see the field together. Actually in a cover-2 there's no real difference between FS and SS in terms of assignment so even last year we saw both. Sendejo did seem to come along as the year went on.

They've carried five safeties for much of the last two years, for whatever that's worth with a new coaching staff.

Blanton hasn't shown us much. It's really going to have to click this year, or he's out. Coleman has seven INTs in four seasons, but other than that his credentials look much like Sanford's. Seventh round pick, started most games in 2011 and 2012, none last year. He does have an age advantage over Sanford by three years. I'm not sure about Bishop, but Raymond and Sendejo aren't really that much of dropoff from Sanford.

I would be shocked if Sendejo was not on this roster. Smith, Sendejo, Sanford and Exum are likely to make it in my opinion. Blanton, Raymond, Coleman and whoever else is on the roster will be competing for the 5th spot
