I’m seeing reports that KOC will be introduced Wednesday.

You have to give that Bengal team some credit. That D played lights out in the playoffs. They hit the road and held Mahomes down. That's not an easy task. You break down and they have weapons that can burn you. Stafford is what he is. He will go through stretches were he struggles. He played like crap, 3 Ints, against our junk D but somehow lead them to victory. We all seen the Bengals beat us this year. We played like crap and our OL didn't care and had a ton of penalties. For the game, the Vikings' offense faced six third downs of at least 15 yards, with five of those at least 20 yards. That Bengal D abused our OL. They beat them into the ground and they never came back out. Bunch of losers who could care less about the game. Cook couldn't run the ball once our OL gave up and it was an embarrassing effort by him. Chase scorched our D in his first pro game. With our OL shutting it down everybody else played hard trying to win and we took it to OT but lost. Kid Burrow beat loser Kirk.VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 11:15 pmIMO Harbaugh would have been the better hire. That doesn't mean O'Connell was a bad hire. We will never know how Harbaugh would have worked out. In the Super Bowl the creative unstoppable Rams offense scored 23 points. Stafford threw 2 Ints. The new offense might be great, but I thought people were overreacting to a bunch of lines drawn on a monitor.vikeinmontana wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 7:49 pm
I meant a “bad hire”. Or “wrong hire”. Either way it’s splitting hairs because if people didn’t think he was the bad hire, they wouldn’t think he was a bad coach. Conversely, if people think he was a “good hire” they’d likely think he was a good coach. I don’t see a scenario where one would believe he’s a good coach but it was a bad hire.
I don’t think it makes a difference. The guy isn’t even 24 hours from winning a super bowl. He’s likely enjoying the moment, saying his goodbyes, rounding out his staff, and will be formally announced in the next couple days. I’m excited to see what he’s made of.
The way I feel about this Vikings team and the NFL today, I would find that quite amusing. The main value of the whole thing is the ridiculous drama show, and you can't get much more dramatic in life than the groom being left standing at the alter by himself. The Wilfs are standing right on the edge of looking like the Marx Brothers, and such an outcome would certainly push them into that territory.J. I realize the operative word is “could,” but with all the “McVay might retire” nonsense going on, I’m feeling a little anxious.VikingLord wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 6:22 pm
Give the guy a day to celebrate... He's probably still working off the hangover...![]()
I think you can build a defense that way. Defenders generally just kind of hope to get in the way and force tight enough windows to make QBs have to play well in order to win. Very few defenses or defensive players are really able to force the issue anymore, especially with the destruction of the sport through the rule book. If offenses don't mess up, they score. Fortunately, there isn't much practice time for NFL players these days, so they don't play particularly well on offense and very often do screw up. Otherwise we'd be seeing even more passing and scoring records shattered.CharVike wrote: ↑Mon Feb 14, 2022 2:11 pm
We all have opinions about what happened. I saw it and my opinion is different. 2018 Griff went bonkers and that hurt big time. Our new people need to figure out the quickest path to success otherwise us older folks will never see another Super Bowl win or lose. That needs to start on D. If we go 3-4 we are years away because we don't have 4 LBers or depth for that position group. Yes there will be FA stiffs who other teams let walk. You can't build that way. If they do that type of thing break the entire group up and basically tank a season while still acting like you are trying. I hate that approach because I don't think that's the best or quickest path. Time will tell soon enough.

Oh, no question that's how we have to proceed. The article says "Vikings plan to announce ...", not "KOC plans to accept". I've seen no quotes from him about coming here since the end of the SB. Maybe there is something out there, but nothing came across my feeds.Thaumaturgist wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 1:44 pmCall me a Vikings fan, but I'll believe it when I see it.makila wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 1:25 pm Espn reporting Thursday announcement.

You can call me one too, mainly because the Vikings had Harbaugh in the building and apparently eager to take the job and turned him down in favor of KOC, who now appears to be hemming and hawing a bit.psjordan wrote: ↑Tue Feb 15, 2022 2:54 pmOh, no question that's how we have to proceed. One would think that if the interview committee were so impressed with KOC that they were willing to say no thanks to Harbaugh, they should have left LA with more than a favorable impression of KOC. One would think they left with more or less an understanding that if KOC were offered the job he would accept it, and I really don't see what McVay retiring would have to do with it. True, if McVay retires and the Rams were to make KOC their head coach he'd be taking over a Superbowl winning roster, but he'd also be viewed as inheriting what McVay built and the bar would be already set as high as it can be set. Maybe he'd like a challenge like that instead of the challenge of building his own winner somewhere else and showing what he can do working on his own.
I remain stunned that the Vikings turned Harbaugh down in favor of anyone else they interviewed. I really hope they knew what they were doing. This would be an inauspicious start to the KAM era as GM if KOC stands them up.
People focus on McVay's age like his retirement from the Rams means he is going to quit coaching for good, when the reality is, it would just mean he is just retiring from the Rams. If he retired, he would likely sit in the booth for a couple of years and wait for a talented team to fire their HC and then take over there. Possibly a better option than trying to win in the toughest division in football with a roster full of holes, with an aging QB who's arm has already started to lose some juice on the deep ball, and nowhere to go but down.J. If McVay retires, it’ll be for a couple of reasons. First, somebody will pay him Romo money to sit in a booth. He’d be the most sought-after former coach in broadcasting. Second, the Rams are $10 million over the cap, they’ve got no draft picks, and several important players are free agents in need of re-signing (or releasing). They went all-in to win this year. It worked, but now the piper has come to get paid.
If I were Kevin O’Connell, I’d rather coach the Vikings.
