Not sure it makes sense but it is worrying that McCarthy can't stay on the field. Hard to evaluate his potential or for him to show progression if he can't play due to injury.CharVike wrote: ↑Thu Oct 16, 2025 8:35 am JJM's press conference he said he's not 100% and I do believe KOC said he wouldn't play until he's 100%. Wentz certainly isn't 100% either.
JJ McCarthy on his ankle: “It's getting there. I wouldn't say it's 100 percent. ... We've got to be smart and understand there's a lot of things that go on. I'm just going to do what I'm told and try to get better”
Does the above make any sense? Sounds like he was told when asked say this.

I saw that play. Ingram just got out of the way and let the DT have a free run at the QB. Maybe PFF just thought to ignore it instead of including it in their grade. Like it didn't happen.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 3:24 pmI am not sure what PFF is seeing, but nothing with Ed has changed:VikingLord wrote: ↑Tue Oct 14, 2025 4:45 pm
I just read that Pro Football Focus has Ingram rated as the #1 overall guard in the NFL right now. I'm not sure how they arrive at those rankings but based on what we saw out of him when he was with the Vikings that was an eye-opener as he was repeatedly one of the worst guards as ranked by the same.

It's one play. Granted, it is one absolutely terrible play, but the grade reflects overall play which apparently has been pretty good. PFF doesn't benefit from misrepresenting or favoring the play of any particular player.
Re: JJM out - ankle inury
That's true. He'll get a new contract for next season. That will give the true story. If he's good he will be paid good.VikingLord wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 11:35 amIt's one play. Drake Maye has turned in a very good season so far after his growth year. For some he's taken the lead of the 2024 class. Darnold is averaging 9.6 yards per attempt. That's what I like to see. Him and Lamar are the only 2 above 9. Not bad for an average of 33 million a year. Mayfield is another bargain. Another guy who took more than 2 years to find his game. It is possible. The lame Browns dumped him along with the lame Panthers who also dumped Sammy. Not exactly the smartest teams out there.

Browns are the dumbest franchise in the NFL bar none, no other team comes close to itCharVike wrote: ↑Sat Oct 18, 2025 10:22 am Drake Maye has turned in a very good season so far after his growth year. Keeping Hue after going 0-16
Dumping Baker after Baker lead the Browns to their first playoff appearance since 2002 and first playoff win since 1994
And lots more other dumb decisions

That is a game, possibly season changing play if it allows the QB to get hurt or causes a fumble. Ingram had 2 more game changing plays last night with two penalties, and is quickly dropping in PFF grade after a couple of good games had the grade inflated.VikingLord wrote: ↑Fri Oct 17, 2025 11:35 amIt's one play. You can't have your RG making plays like that.
Also, PFF did in fact ignore that play when factoring in Ingram's play, with no sack given up against TN. Since he didn't block the guy, that kind of makes sense?

I'm not trying to defend PFF or justify (or even explain) the grade they gave Ingram as I haven't watched him play at all this year. I just noted where PFF had him graded.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 12:02 pmThat is a game, possibly season changing play if it allows the QB to get hurt or causes a fumble. Regardless of how he plays for the Texans, when he was with the Vikings he was far from consistent and mostly a liability, so I think it was very reasonable for the Vikings to move on from him.
Re: JJM out - ankle inury
I tuned that game in for a little bit just to watch Darnold. His second TD throw was a thing of beauty. Rusher coming at him and he threw a thread the needle pass for a TD. We don't have a guy on our roster that can do that. I also checked out Ingram on replays and most of the time he was on the ground. Texans OL can't hold the point and gets push backwards. Stroud will have a tough time with that.VikingLord wrote: ↑Tue Oct 21, 2025 12:36 pmI'm not trying to defend PFF or justify (or even explain) the grade they gave Ingram as I haven't watched him play at all this year. Re: JJM out - ankle inury
Glad JJ McCarthy is likely back, but the real win will be if Darrissaw and O'Neill play against the Lions.
I knew the Oline was bad, but according to PFF's pass blocking efficiency stat which measures how many pressures were given up by the Oline per dropback, weighting sacks heavier than just a pressure, this year's Vikings Oline is worse than they have been since 2015 when Norv Turner was asking Teddy Bridgewater to take a bunch of 7 step drops behind an awful Oline. What makes that stat even worse, Wentz was getting rid of the ball pretty quickly when he was playing most of the QB snaps this year. He had the 7th fastest TTT and still getting pressured regularly.
That needs to change or JJ McCarthy is going to continue to look bad. Any first year QB would.

Re: JJM out - ankle inury
That's the scary part. This line has been a joke all year. That tackle they signed to take over Darrisaw snaps is bad. Our center position is real bad right now. That certainly can't help a rookie G. Brandel is a valuable backup because he has played G and T but C is a much different skill set. I'm not sure Jurgens is that good either yet. Signing a C with an injury history this should have been taken care of better. Our depth is horrible.StumpHunter wrote: ↑Wed Oct 29, 2025 4:05 pm Glad JJ McCarthy is likely back, but the real win will be if Darrissaw and O'Neill play against the Lions.

Minnesota could become the first team in NFL history to lose two quarterbacks in the same offseason who both go on to start playoff games the following year. No team has ever lost two quarterbacks in one offseason who each made the Pro Bowl the next season, either.
This will be another jewel for KAM's crown if it does happen.

Re: JJM out - ankle inury
The 7-1 Colts are averaging the most points per drive (3.46) by any team in a season since 2000. The next three teams on the list all featured quarterbacks who won the MVP that year. The 2007 Patriots (Tom Brady), 2018 Chiefs (Patrick Mahomes) and 2020 Packers (Aaron Rodgers).
Jones is keeping the chains moving with some of the most efficient third-down plays ever. He is currently the only quarterback over the last 45 seasons to have a completion rate of 75% and at least 10 yards per pass attempt on third down. The only other quarterbacks who came close to that efficiency for a full season were Steve Young in 1994 (won MVP and Super Bowl MVP), Kurt Warner in 1999 (won MVP and Super Bowl MVP), plus Joe Burrow in 2021 (made Super Bowl).
This is embarrassing for our team and our so called whisperer. Danny Dimes has a chance to be MVP. Look at the names he is currently being mentioned with. Some on the board mentioned keeping him of course I thought nah he's not that good. Well he's been beyond good. Yes that's a nice team around him but you still need to function.
