I like this pick also. Next we need a DT. Even a couple will work.
Vikings need a safety since Harrison is going to retire soon
If you can't play effectively at the LOS you can't compete against the better teams. Our run defense was no 2 or 3 but when we faced teams that could run well we couldn't stop them. Both games the Lions had little problem. Others also but I'm not looking it up again. Yes they need a safety also.

I think KOC had enough of them 3rd and 1 that we couldn’t convert on last season. At least they recognized that there was a problem that needed fixed.
I’m ok with the pick. Should be a starter this year and that’s what you want.

It is going to be interesting to see if Vikings are going to trade down and get more picks or just use all the picks without trading down

The top 3 guards all went early in the draft and the Vikings most likely could not have got him even at 26 as most analysts had Houston all set to take him at pick 25. He was a National Champion, all American, 3 times first team big ten, large and tested extremely well. He is also very smart judging by his academic awards. What is there not to like?
I'm happy the Vikings addressed the other guard position early in the draft. Jackson is a good player and a good prospect and plays a position of need, but I'm not sure he will be an impact player at the position. Still, he is likely to be better than Brandel and interior offensive line was an area that the Vikings needed to address this offseason, especially given their intent to go with McCarthy at QB, so this move makes sense.

Now I expect KAM to go safety or defensive line at #97. At safety there are 3 players I like that should be available - Billy Bowman of Oklahoma, Andrew Mukaba of Texas and Lathan Ransom of Ohio State. For defensive line I'm saying my prayers and eating my vitamins in the hopes that somehow Alfred Collins of Texas drops to the Vikings. I think he is just what the doctor ordered if the Vikings want improved play against the run and a player I think can develop into someone who can consistently collapse the pocket. Odds are he won't drop but if he does he would be a no-brainer IMHO.

:welcome

First, welcome to the board!

As far as trading down I was surprised they didn't trade down out of #24. I assume they must have really liked Jackson at that spot because it made sense for them to trade with the Giants there and I would be surprised if the Giants weren't calling them.

I'm not sure what KAM could get to trade out of the 97th pick. He'd be trading back into the 4th most likely and maybe could swing a 5th? Hard to say if that is worth it unless nobody he likes is still available and some other team feels there is.

I personally think they stay at 97 and will draft a safety or interior DL. CB is another position they could target there.

Agree with others. It's good that koc is legit addressing the area that keeps costing us. And he can recognize where the flaws are.

Seems like he's had more input the last two off seasons on roster changes.

One silver lining of only having 4 picks is that you can probably draw a lot of interest from agents for undrafted players. There will opportunity for a couple guys to make the Vikings roster without having been selected.

In a sentence: It's time for the Vikings to stop being soft.

Traded down with....wait for it.... Houston! Haha
I like this one, moving up from mid 6th to early 5th, just to move down 5 here.

#97 (3.33) and 187 (6.11)
For
#102 (3.38) and 142 (5.4)

Final pick of the 3rd round is WR Tai Felton, from Maryland.

This pick makes zero sense, wide receiver is not a need!

That's funny. It's like Houston and us keep flipping FA, making trades ect.

Potentially some insulation for an Addison suspension?

Speedy Nailor looks great and then disappears for long stretches. This kid has nice potential.
