My biggest concern for Kwesi is that "fire Kwesi" doesn't roll of the tongue nearly as well as "fire Rick".
Re: A new GM on the horizon
Kam is easier name for me. His initials. Because I sure don’t know how to pronounce his full name.

Yep the Vikings blew it. Got sniped by the freaking Bears.Texas Vike wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 1:47 pm Kwesi is our GM.
Bears hired Poles.
Given their working together in SF, rumor is floating that Demeco Ryans may be the hire at HC:

Mensah is a highly educated guy who knows nothing about football.

You already know how this is going to turn out for both teams?VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 5:05 pmYep the Vikings blew it. Got sniped by the freaking Bears.Texas Vike wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 1:47 pm Kwesi is our GM.

I haven't seen anything confirming the Vikes have hired Mensah as the GM as of today. Maybe it's out there but nothing has been announced on the team website at least.

Think the in person interview was still scheduled for today. Haven't seen anything official, any direction, yet.VikingLord wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 6:33 pmYou already know how this is going to turn out for both teams?VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 5:05 pm

Re: A new GM on the horizon
On channel 9 news they showed him leaving TCO in a limo. Maybe getting ready for the Mannys dinner?
FWIW he was smiling. Rappaport reported he will be the GM but it sounded like it is an assumption since Poles is going to the Bears.
So nothing official. But I would guess it will be announced tomorrow. If not, they are looking elsewhere?
Re: A new GM on the horizon
He very well may be a good gm but I would prefer a football guy like John Lynch he has the 49’rs in the championship game yet again. But what do I know. Just getter done.

Nothing appears official yet. I based my post on what I'd seen on twitter, which was speculation made when the Bears announced that they had hired Poles. The Bears "beat" us to Fields in the draft, and now appear to have beaten us to Poles.VikingLord wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 6:33 pmYou already know how this is going to turn out for both teams?VikingsVictorious wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 5:05 pm

It’s exactly what happens when the competition gets the first in-person interview.
Now we’re gonna get some guy named after an international association of high IQ people. From the Browns.
Where’s the bourbon?

Go ahead. I dare you.

Agreed. If we wanted a brainiac, we could've interviewed people at NASA. To be honest, I would've much rather kept Spielman at this rate. I could be completely wrong and this guy could do a great job but he's going to have a lot to prove. I just dont get the connection. I dont get how he checks off all the boxes to be a GM. Again, maybe I'm wrong and this is the new way of GM'ing but I have a hard time seeing it.J. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:49 pmThis. Sucks.Texas Vike wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 8:45 pm

And I've seen rumors connecting Bowles here now. Gross. Another dinosaur coach like Zimmer and Leslie Frazier that cant coach up an entire team and are only good at coordinating. Sad day in Viking land for me.

Re: A new GM on the horizon
I'll play devil's advocate on this point:
I don't think there is anyone on this board who has enough access to information to objectively judge GM candidates. This is especially true of our two finalists, who have never held the role of GM. The best one can do is extrapolate from that team's success in the draft, in managing FA, and other personnel moves, but we can't know for sure what this candidate's role was in any of those decisions or if it was even theirs.
Everything I've read about KAM sounds very positive. His background is not conventional. I like that, honestly. He's well educated, has demonstrated success in very competitive sectors, and appears to excel at analytics while also being exceptional concerning social intelligence. That's a rare combo that has me interested.
Poles would have been the safer choice, so I get the disappointment, but safe choices have defined the MN Vikings for the past decade. I'm excited to see what Kwesi can do with this franchise.

I need to do more reading about him other than his general background that comes up on every Google search. Just going off that, the fact that he spent 7 years with San Francisco can be seen as a positive, and his time in Cleveland came when the Browns were not the dismal doormat they’d been for decades. Both those rosters are outstanding, so maybe he knows a thing or two about roster construction — something Spielman and Zimmer struggled with.
If I look at red flags based on KAM’s general background, the biggest one is that Jimmy G and Baker Mayfield make up his resume as his former teams’ QB1s.
Hangover has passed. Time to start finding some detailed info on the guy.

Go ahead. I dare you.

Mayfield was the consensus #1 overall pick that was made before he got there.J. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 26, 2022 8:21 am

Jimmy G is a big red flag, especially considering SF had a chance to draft Mahomes and Watson in 2017 and passed on them. From what I understand that was a Shanahan decision more than anything though.

Pretty much my thoughts, lost out on your number one guy to the bears, just to sign a guy with a lot of question marks. Hope I’m wrong but this isn’t ideal.J. Kapp 11 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 9:49 pmThis. Sucks.Texas Vike wrote: ↑Tue Jan 25, 2022 8:45 pm

I saw that Mr. Kwesi has been officially hired, I am going to give Mr. Kwesi a chance, he could surprise us! Congratulations to Mr. Kwesi and I hope Mr. Kwesi will bring Vikings a championship
