Josh Metellus safety, I am glad Vikings finally drafted one since Vikings have no one at safety behind Harris and Smith

We may have got a diamond in the rough. Never heard of this guy but PFF rated him as a 93 pass blocker? That's unreal. Best pass blocking score in college football.

One of the most consistent linemen Oregon State has had, Blake Brandel was the Beavers' iron man in the trenches as he started and played in all 48 games of his career. The 6-foot-7, 308 pounder became a staple at left-tackle as a redshirt-freshman in 2016 and never looked back as he logged the third-longest starting streak in OSU history.

Brandel was named All Pac-12 Second-Team as a senior in 2019 and was previously a Pac-12 Honorable Mention in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He started the majority of games at left tackle but logged nine starts at right tackle during his redshirt-freshman season in 2016.

In his senior season, Brandel earned a 93.1 pass-blocking grade by PFF, the best mark in the nation. Overall, he earned a 90.0 grade, which was the sixth-best mark nationally. In the 2019 season, he allowed just one sack and four overall QB hurries.

Do you or anyone know about him?
I read he's not physically dominant but is a great technician.

Not one guard picked until the 6th round. Does this mean Elf is back for round 2 at LG this year? :wallbang:

All these “solid guys restocking our team” will be cut in 4 months. So tired of watching this guy make the same mistakes for over a decade.
What? The guys that were claimed to be “solid” were picks within the first 4-5 rounds. They are making the team, 110% guaranteed.

Like just because he didn’t take a QB to “develop” doesn’t mean it was a mistake. How many 5th-6th round picks “develop” into anything more than a backup?

I can just about bet money our starting guards this year will be Reiff at LG and Samia at RG.

With trades, Vikings have two 4th rounders and a 5th next year?

He's supposed to be a thumper who excels in run support.

Plus a 3rd round compensatory for Trae Waynes, and probably extra late round compensatory for a couple other guys we saw walk.

Exactly, they rarely develop into anything which is why stockpiling them is a poor strategy. And it’s even worse in a year with limited time for evaluation and competition.

And a long snapper, punter, a pair of kickers, a LB converted to FB, a kid from Germany that’s a Vikings fan, all these are worth a draft pick but not the QB position?

Lot of tweeners in the LB, S, Big Nickel guys we're selecting. Also some 3-4, 4-3 position flexible guys.

How about Cole McDonald, QB, Hawaii? Montez from Colorado? Any other QB prospects worth a try this year at this point?

Cole is interesting but I’m not sure if he fits in the Zimmer DNA. He’s a QB that takes a lot of chances and thus has a tendency to turn the ball over a lot and is rather streaky.
