Dan Patrick was one of the most well known sports anchors on ESPN ever. He should be credible, but who is this Pete Smith reporting that Dan Patrick said this?
Yeah that's what I'm saying. Patrick I would trust but no idea who Pete Smith is. This reminds me of the Beckham rumor. Some random guy tweeted we traded for Beckham and said Jay Glazer reported it, when he clearly never did.
Dan Patrick is reporting it. Google Dan Patrick Redskins and you'll find numerous stories on it, for example:
https://www.si.com/nfl/redskins/news/da ... -for-trent

https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/re ... k-says-yes

https://www.si.com/nfl/browns/news/dan- ... round-pick
From the SI article:
After Jenna Laine of ESPN reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers almost traded tight end O.J. Howard to the Washington Redskins for offensive tackle Trent Williams, Dan Patrick, host of the well listened to Dan Patrick Show, said on his steady and improving show, that a source told him that Williams would be traded for a first round pick and that pick would be used to draft a replacement offensive lineman.
In the other SI article (first link posted) the teams speculated about are not the Vikings, but rather the Dolphins and Browns.

The following is a fringy, unconfirmed rumor, so take it FWIW. I'm told by a new source with a convincing connection to the #Browns that a trade for Trent Williams is "done," with #Redskins expected to receive a 3rd or 4th in 2020 and a 2nd in 2021.

Funny thing is all of those links have people reporting that Dan Patrick said it. Not one of them shows Dan Patrick reporting it. Not one of those is a written article by Dan Patrick. I might have to quit being lazy and try to find evidence that Dan Patrick did indeed say this.
That link also specifically states it will NOT be the Browns trading for him.

I will see it when I believe it, right now Browns, Vikings, Jets, and Eagles are in a bid for Trent so let's see who wins the Trent sweepstakes

I think you hit the nail on the head about your needing to stop being lazy!( I say that with a friendly, Viking-brother tone, btw)

From the first link:
Of course, with Bill Callahan running the Cleveland Browns offensive line and the Browns in desperate need of a left tackle, the most likely destination is still the Browns.
The third link I cited is SI Browns, and that writer DOES speculate that the reports of a first round pick being in the deal would seem to eliminate CLE because given that their pick is so high, they could just pick a top OT.

Regarding your point about Dan Patrick: if you read any of the articles I linked, you will see that Dan Patrick has a podcast, which is where he reported this info.

Lastly, let's not get our nickers in a twist--this is the time of year that rumors fly, wild speculation abounds, and fans trying to decipher the truth are left in a fog. That's just the way things are leading up to the draft. 99% of "reports" are smokescreen or speculation, so take it all with a grain of salt until it's a done deal.

Vikes fans, I have been doing my best to find out the situation with Williams. I talked to his friend and ex teammates brother this morning. I said text your brother again and tell him I cant take it anymore and I need to know if Trent is gonna be a Viking by the end of the day, or where he is gonna go.
He did it, but no word yet. He did tell me Williams has been pretty radio silent here for the past week.
I just want to get a text telling me that his brother just told him that Trent let him know he is heading up north. And I dont mean North from me as in Cleveland, I mean TRUE NORTH.... Norse Land!!!
I just wanna die as a Super Bowl Champion Viking Fan!!

BV, thanks for continuously keeping us updated on the Williams saga. I was really hoping it was going to work out. But as I mentioned earlier in the thread, I can’t shake the feeling that we’ve missed our window. Hope I’m wrong!

Radio Silent, but I hear he's been recently following Browns players on social media.

Radio silent as not getting back to texts right now to old teammates lol.
I have seen a few pretty funny texts to him from Kerrigan, Paulson, Cousins and Williams before.
I am sure right now. He isn't worrying about texts from anyone other than his agent and the people courting him.
Sounds like Cleveland is really pushing hard . But hey you just never know.
I did my best to get the scoop before. Think I will be just waiting like us all.
But if I do hear something... you guys will get it right away.

Yeah, it's understandable that he's being discreet today, especially if they have a deal mostly in place but it's contingent on certain things playing out during the draft. Folks on Reddit have noted that he started following Brown's players on Instagram last night, which is likely a tell. I appreciate the information you've provided and always enjoy reading it.

Looks like maybe we r not getting Williams so now how do we fix the OL? We have so many options I really do not know the best way to do it.

Josh Jones. He can play guard this year and take over for Reiff next year.
