And the dolphins didn't even average 4 yards per carry.
is it exactly 90% or did you throw out a ball bark figure. It's an estimation. I sure most of them were over 4 yards thou. 3 TD's on the goal line 1 yard and 2 yard, and yes a 5 yard run. Because Csonka could do more consistently what Cook can't, brake tackles especially on the goal line. Some times you have to be your own blocker. If he is just getting yardage because of blocking. We can put anyone back there who has speed and quickness. Give a little more credit to the O Line. New England O Line does not get nearly enough credit for the amount of time they give Brady. I know it sounds repetitive but games are won and lost up front.
We don't have to guess about this. Here is my quote.
I think that would eliminate 90% of the RBs in the league.
It was a thought I had and when I said I think it would eliminate 90% of the rbs it was correct even if it even eliminated 95% of the RBs, because to eliminate 95% a by product is eliminating 90%.
I don't recall your exact wording, but I think it is fair to say that you implied Cook has no tackle breaking ability at all. IIRC Cook was one of the very best at tackle breaking and this quote from PHP supports my recollection.
Yeah I’m not sure where the broken tackle thing is coming from. At one point last year, cook led the entire nfl in forcing missed tackles. So if anything, he was arguably the best in the nfl in that category
I very much agree with you that games are won or lost up front.
I give a huge amount of credit to Offensive Line Play. This might blow your mind, but I think it is more important than QB play. A great O Line can make pretty much any NFL level QB look very good and any NFL level RB look very good. Now if you combine the great O Line with a Great RB or QB than you really have a winning formula. Of course you will still need a good Def and decent receivers.

Sorry I did not specify I was giving a ball park figure. I do believe if you want to run the ball you should have a goal of getting the 1st down before you get to 3rd down.

If everybody could do what the Dolphins did to the Vikings in the Super Bowl, We would not be talking about QB's

Miami Dolphins
Net yards rushing 196
Rushing attempts 53
Yards per rush 3.7
Passing – Completions/attempts 6/7
Net yards passing 63 If Cook can do that I would be happy, and we win the Super Bowl. Frankly I don't care how they win the Super Bowl. I would like to see them win within the next 5 yrs.
And the dolphins didn't even average 4 yards per carry.

Try not to get me wrong Cook is a very good player. Much better than AP catching balls out of the backfield. But my feeling is you build around a QB.

I'd say Offensive line followed by QB. I know that goes against conventional wisdom.

I just don't understand how anyone can think Cook is easily replaced in this offense. Do you guys forget what the offense looked like without him. We were at times competent with him Diggs and AT and you guys think we should move on from 2 out of the 3? Geez.

I don't think he is easily replaced, just that if you arent willing to pay him top 3 RB money, you ARE GOING TO HAVE TO REPLACE HIM WHETHER WE WANT TO OR NOT.

The choice, then is to either pay him or replace him. I'd go with the latter.

Great Post Fiesta.

Dalvin Cook not holding out yet.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports Vikings RB Dalvin Cook plans to participate in the team's virtual voluntary offseason program.
Cook is entering the last year of his rookie deal. The backfield remains unchanged after the draft: Cook will get all the work he can handle, Alexander Mattison will see sporadic backup usage and is nothing more than a high-end handcuff, and Mike Boone will flash in the preseason but ultimately provide little value without multiple injuries occurring. It seems likely the Vikings and Cook manage to get some sort of deal done before the season starts.

I am hoping it is a 10 million deal since it is fair since he can not stay healthy but that is wishful thinking

Yeah I would say minimum of 13. It would be awesome if it had a base of 10 with performance incentives.

Best case, if they re-sign him, they massage his ego with a big number, but both sides agree to structure it to become year by year after the second year of the contract. Otherwise, they'll be making a terrible decision in re-signing Cook.
