The guy told the ppl buying it that if they could be patient and store it and let it age at least a year it would be even better. Said 2 to 3 years would be best. So I am hoping tomorrow night it will be enjoyed with a Viking Victory.
Happy birthday! I had no idea beer would last that long...

Thanks I appreciate that. It's weird I never knew it either until I started really liking Porters and Stouts. Then I found out that the higher alc Stouts can be like wines, if stored properly they become better tasting. The guy at Stone who gave us the tour talked about it. They had 3 diff special edition Stouts and he told ppl about storing it.
I have read about these beer aficionados storing good Stouts and opening them up 5 years later . It's not for regular Lagers, Pilsners etc. From what I've read.
I am just going by what I was told and have read. I know a guy who is a beer aficionado and even brews his own. He has some beers that are special edition reserve release beers that he buys in large qtys when they come out and let's them age for long periods.
I guess I will find out when I open it lol. If its nasty and skunky i will guess I was told wrong lol. And will just dump it and proceed to some fresh Yeti Imperial Stout.
Most important is a Viking win :beerock:

I'm with S197. I had no idea that beer could age in the bottle like this for that long. I'm not sure why though, because I used to brew my own beer, and had to age it... so it makes sense. A bit of a duh moment for me. I will have to keep an eye out for this kind of stout, because that sounds delicious. 2 to 3 years though, wow. I would have to hide it and hope I stumble across it one say. :D

It definitely isn't all beers. I'm pretty sure many would just get nasty.

Thanks guys appreciate it. A win would make it a great night.
I read up some more about storing the beer, started second guessing it lol.
For sure it's not all brews. It said its higher alcohol content Stouts, Porters, Tripels and Quads. It said the beers 9% and over are the ones that will age. This article said about 1 1/2 - 2 yrs they will really hit the great flavor mark. It also said that some age better than others. Prob like wines or bourban.
I don't know I just decided to try it with this pint and see. Now i did have a Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter that somehow sat in my little fridge for about 9 of months. When i opened it i had about 3 drinks of it and dumped it. Got pretty skunky, but it's a lower alcohol content.
I guess i will find out tonight. Good thing is if I do have to dump it, I have some good back up players on the bench. My team motto is Next Brew Up!!! :beerock:

I'm not buying (Cousins plays better when upset). I think it just fits the narrative right now.

Interesting take on GMFB.....

https://www.vikings.com/video/gmfb-what ... ns-tonight

They mention that the network will show Cousins record in prime time but what they will fail to mention is his comp %, yardage, etc. is actually better in prime time than it is in the afternoon. But his defense gave up over 31 points a game in prime time games. Amazing what you find when you look past something as simple as a record.

Agreed.

Cousins has been playing lights out so this is in no way dogging on him, but his games so far fit his narrative. He kills teams like the ones he's been playing. Middle of the pack and lower teams. Then against the higher level teams his production doesn't just go down as you would expect from anybody playing higher level competition, it seems to drop off the map. As it stands Kirk is doing awesome and I won't downplay his accomplishments. He's been killing it and he can only play the teams on the schedule. These are still NFL defenses he's playing against here. It's no small feat to carve them up like he's doing.

That said, Kirk will need to change my mind against KC, DAL, SEA, and GB. I expect to end the year at 10-6 having dropped those 4 games and then be in the wildcard round. Possibly against the Packers. They'll have their own future in their hands against GB and lose in week 16. Then they'll be playing for their playoffs lives against the Bears again but this time I think they win.

GREAT take by Kyle Brandt ... that the idea that Kirk Cousins "is terrible" in prime time is a flat-out lie, and a low-hanging narrative that anybody can repeat without penalty.

Has he had bad games? Yes. But when you think about the stats that Brandt quoted -- most importantly that his defenses have given up more than 31 POINTS PER GAME in prime time -- it's clear that he has not necessarily played badly. It's just that the OUTCOMES have been bad in 13 of 18 games.

I really hope the Vikings not only win, but that Kirk Cousins lights up the Redskins ... 400+ yards, 4 TDs, another 130+ passer rating. I hope they're so far ahead that we see Sean Mannion in the 4th quarter for garbage time, and the cameras show Kirk on the sidelines, relaxed and smiling.

They'll have their own future in their hands against GB and lose in week 16. Then they'll be playing for their playoffs lives against the Bears again but this time I think they win.
I think the two biggest factors for Cousins are:

- Credible play action/run game. Stefanski has Cousins taking a large percentage of snaps from under center and that makes the play action a lot more effective provided when the ball is actually handed off, the running game is effective. Against the Bears, it wasn't. Against everyone else, it has been. But if the Vikings can keep the defensive front 7 honest, or even get them to load up with more than 7 pre-snap, that is helping Cousins by creating more deep opportunities. When he's able to hit those as he's done lately, he's going to pile up the yardage and the touchdowns.
- Good pass blocking. Again, the Bears really blew up the Vikings OL with their rush, and on blitzes, blew up guys like Cook. Couple that with no effective run game and Cousins was put into a situation where he almost never looked past 10 yards downfield. Stefanski has done a nice job with some rollouts to buy time, but the OL has also done a good job of keeping Cousins pretty clean. If that continues, regardless of the opponent, Cousins will continue to make plays.

I agree that the Redskins aren't the defense to end Cousins' recent streak. They're pretty porous against the run and pass and don't generate a lot of pass rush pressure. Provided the Vikings don't completely melt down offensively, which has happened in this type of game in the past, Cousins should continue to find himself in favorable situations and be able to execute his game.

As for the "better" teams that remain on the schedule, as far as I'm concerned it comes down to how well any of those defenses can disrupt the two keys listed above. KC is a good team, but doesn't have a great defense. They are better against the pass than the run and the game is in KC, so that will favor the Chiefs, but Cousins should have ample opportunity to keep things rolling. The Cowboys, OTOH, are a much better overall defense. That will be a much bigger test of the entire Vikings offensive progress to that point in the season. The Seahawk defense is similar to the KC defense. Average overall.

The other factor is all of those games are road games. The offense will be fighting noise in addition to the defenses they face.

And actually, the Broncos might be one of the better defenses in the NFL this year. They are currently ranked above both the Cowboys and the Vikings defensively and have the 3rd-ranked pass defense to this point in the season. So, maybe not a good overall team, but one that also will test Cousins and the overall offense.

In short, I look at this recent stretch of games as a necessary confidence builder for Cousins and the overall offense. After the debacle against the Bears, they needed a stretch to get their heads right (not just Cousins, but all of them, including the coaches), and the Redskins form the tail end of that stretch of games before considerably more difficult conditions set in. After tonight's contest the Vikings will be on the road for 3 out of their next 4 games, with two of the better pass and overall defenses in the league being two of those games. We'll know pretty quickly if the recent string of games got the offense on track and capable of consistently performing at it's full potential, or if better defenses can still gum them up and expose their weaknesses.

I got a kick out of Keenum's response when asked about playing against his former team.
He said something along the lines that the way things have been going for him, before long he will be playing a former team every week.
Pretty witty answer.

Thanks! I'll definitely look for that. I'm in the Twin Cities, and I would think they are multiple places I can find that. Thanks you for the suggestion! By the way, how was your aged brew last night?
