I don't disagree that it was a bit "baity" but I'm not sure the intent was "trolling" for a reply. PHP has been bemoaning the calls for Zimmer to be fired for a while now so I wasn't surprised to see a response from him like this in the thread.
I wasn't either and I didn't mean to imply he was intentionally trolling for a reply. I was just trying to make a point about judgment and awareness. You express it well below:
I also agree that if you want to stay out of a conversation the best way is to actually stay out of it. This discussion wouldn't be happening had that been the route PHP had gone. Maybe take that cue from yourself in the future, PHP
At the same time, it would have been just as easy to ignore his comment.
Exactly right!
Now, since you requested we get back on point:
I think PurplePain2018 made an interesting comment in the OP about this year's team being soft. I sense that too. There have been a few games this year where I felt they kind of "went in the tank" when things weren't going their way. They don't seem terribly well-prepared either, although defensively, they often do a solid job of adjusting in-game. I don't know what the stats are but I'm guessing the Vikes allow a low number of points in the second half relative to the rest of the league.

I certainly hope you don't stop giving your view. I respect your opinion and value your input.

I agree on the slow start, and it really makes me wonder about the maturity of the team. Perhaps they had too much success too early in their careers? I don't know. It's been a rough year and frankly nothing this season has reassured me that Zimmer is the guy for the future.

Guys, just to point out one more thing off topic here... I can foe anyone but if their posts are quoted, I still see them. Cliff, is thst something you can look into?

I'm not sure if this is the right thread to share this. The article is not just covering Cousins but what the front office and Zimmer were thinking when they made the choice to go after Cousins.
I don't think it is good strategy to fire your head coach when you are still in a wild card hunt. Those decisions will be better evaluated at the end of this season. I do believe if the Vikings miss the playoffs this year there is serious concern for Zimmer and Spielman.
Maybe Zimmer should be, but I think JDF should be fired right now. He was a position coach on a SB team and wasn't running the show there. Time to bring someone else in IMO.

Agree. Time for Flip to go.. and take Preifer too

My problem with Zimmer:
He berates his kickers. He hired a pass first coordinator and now he wants him to run. He runs kickers and coordinators out of town and you can’t win with just stellar defense. Bailey is converting at 50% and he is the best pedigree of anyone we have had under Zimmer. He never gave Keenum any room for success. I like Zimmer, but I just think some of this is on him.
Honest question and all just speculation because who knows if Shurmer would have done it. But we all know how important coaching is. Last year, why not offer a guy like Shurmer head coaching money to stay here and be your coordinator? When you pay a guy like Cousins $30 million per, why not pay your coordinator $5 million? One could argue both are just as important to the team and best of all it is no cap hit.
I'm beginning to hate Zimmer's press conferences after losses. He hints that HIS defense did their job, but acts clueless about other things like the FG attempt where there should have been a penatly..."I dont know, I didn't see it." And then mentioning the offense not getting it done. I understand that he doesn't want to throw people under the bus, but you're the damn head coach. If you didn't see it, wth are you watching? If DeFelippo is so bad (which he is), why do you let him to continue to call plays and deflect blame from yourself?
I think he's a helluva coach, but his overall leadership is starting to be questioned in my eyes. He holds other people accountable and gives others opportunity to have control, but when things don't work, he needs to act like a HC and a leader and take care of what needs to be done.

This was my thought process when he left. It is ever more present with the disaster that is JDF. It doesn't matter now, the ship has sailed.
