Without knowing why they're absent, I don't think it makes sense to read it as a negative. Maybe they're doing something else important.
The problem is this is a continuing trend from last year. There was more than one person last year who commented on how quick Patterson was to leave the field. Meanwhile, guys like Treadwell continuously put in extra time.

Not saying there's fire, but you have to admit there's an awful lot of smoke.

To me this is just gossip column stuff and I hate the automatic negative assumption. Zimmer just said Patterson's doing the right things to earn more playing time. That works for me.

Face it, we have no idea if Patterson's putting in extra time too or not. His name just wasn't in a tweet today. It's not a big deal.

Charley Walters. Never been wrong.

But seriously, I would be very surprised if Bradford doesn't get the start. I think this was their hope the day the deal went down. I just really hope Bradford is ready.

No, but don't you think it would be nice to read even one of these "Treadwell stays 60 minutes after every practice" stories about Patterson?

Sure, but it's not like we don't have reports about him putting in extra effort. He worked with Bridgewater during the past two offseasons. He worked with "Hell's Trainer" to improve his athleticism. He worked with Steve Calhoun on route-running those past offseason.

To me, tweets like this and the negative conclusions automatically drawn from them are precisely how false or misleading narratives about work ethic are formed. People read a list of players that are working after practice, Patterson's not among them and the assumption is "Oh, he's not dedicated". Okay, what's he doing? Was he off to McDonalds and then on to a night of partying? Is he kickin' back and playing video games? Maybe he's studying film or working with Priefer, his WR coach or a team trainer... we don't know. Jumping to a negative conclusion without any evidence to support it is silly.

Heck, for all we know Patterson could have been there working with Bradford too and that tweet didn't contain a comprehensive list of names. After all, Ben Goessling tweeted about the same thing only he wrote:
Vikings practice is over, but Sam Bradford is staying late to throw extra passes with the team's top three receivers -- Stefon Diggs, Charles Johnson and Adam Thielen -- as well as tight end Kyle Rudolph.
If Goessling's tweet was the only one on the subject we could react by worrying that Treadwell and Boeringer must be slacking off somewhere with Patterson and Wright (In fact, I just looked at responses to Goessling's tweet and one of them was "treadwell must not be too worried about playing time").
