I'm not sure it's that. I think he's caught in a numbers game at a deep position. I'm pretty sure they still like him.

Maybe that's it. It just seems strange since they signed him to a 4 year extension last year, including $7 million guaranteed.

They show cased Wright the other night to show he is healthy.
I wonder if we are trying to add him to a QB trade...or just move him.

Not being able to play early really hurt Wright. When Thielen stepped up big, I think it made him expendable. It would be great if the Vikings could get something for Wright, but I think most teams will wait to see what happens. Too bad, Wright has talent, and makes the most of his limited role.

Yes, it seemed that way. Not sure anyone would trade a QB though. Might sweeten the pot with a pick though.

I think he has too. Thielen is a free agent next year while Wright is under an extended contract. Unless they're trying to shed salary, it seems like Thielen would be the more expendable player... but of course, he'd probably also net less in trade.

As halfgiz said, maybe they're trying to use Wright to sweeten a trade deal.

Four #Vikings I'm most curious about today as they trim the roster to 53: Michael Griffin, Jarius Wright, Willie Beavers, Taylor Heinicke.

Thielen has more position flexibility, seems to have out-played Wright, plays special teams (well) and is cheaper. All things working against Wright.

How has he out-played Wright? Wright was hurt this preseason (but looked very good on Thursday) and he's definitely been the more effective receiver over the last few years.

Thielen is cheaper and he does provide excellent value on special teams. I agree with you there.

It's dueling Vikings beat reporters!

A pair of sources in the know said that the #Vikings are not shopping veteran slot receiver Jarius Wright.

Just my observations of both players the last couple of years. It's pretty close at this point. I'd prefer to keep Wright. I wanted to keep Sully, too, but I've been hurt too much this offseason. My heart is stone.

About sums it up. Not sure it really matters which they keep.

Well, to be honest with you dead_poet, you're a Vikings fan. I would be shocked if your heart wasn't stone! :)

I keep giving in to hope. I allowed it to be chipped away (again) following Ponder. I was ready to love again. I now know that was my mistake. Never again.

It feels like a step-father just came into my house while my real dad is in a coma.

I have trust issues.
