Don't forget the sleeveless missile whiffs on opposing ball-carriers and the blind backwards biceps coverage failures.jackal wrote:Yeah he is not a player I wanted to come back.

This is commonplace in the NFL, fans like to flip out without knowing the finer details, structure, incentives, etc. etc.Mothman wrote:![]()
Faith in Zimmer's vision for his defense sure disappeared in a hurry once people saw that contract number for Sendejo.
As the tweets Dead_Poet posted suggest, a sizable portion of that $16 million may not be guaranteed and it's the guaranteed money that matters. The rest is basically window dressing at this point.
Edit: I see PA is thinking along similar lines:

How many years have we neglected the safety spot? And then how many years before we got #22 did we neglect it? And people are talking about us getting a DE or NT? My god, we have the worst safety in football. It doesnt seem like a Zimmer move. Its a regression, not a progression for the Vikings.

So, are we really gonna neglect the reality of the NFL? Contracts in the league mean #### (Guaranteed notwithstanding, but who cares? It doesn't count against the cap). Sandejo can get cut in 2017 and his contract means diddly. This ain't the MLB. No need to get into a tizzy over this. It's a bonafide backup plan where there's a limited amount of options.

Yeah when I first heard that I was, "what the $%&" but i agree contracts unless fully guaranteed don't mean much in the NFLSo, are we really gonna neglect the reality of the NFL? @Simple_Spirits @InfraRen I can 100 percent tell you that the Iloka side has every indication the Vikes can still pursue, & are interested.

Just hope that Iloka doesn't turn into a big bidding war. And ends up going above market valve.
Has anybody heard anything more about Loadholt agreeing to a paycut?

My thought on Sandejo is the Vikings felt he could be a quality backup for them. After the debacles of 2011 and 2013 I would hope that Vikings fans can appreciate the value in having depth in the secondary.
If the deal is $4MM a year then I would have angst, but if it is incentive laden, I think it is a solid deal.
We have to trust that Zim and Spielman know what they are doing.
If the Vikings don't go after Iloka my guess is it will have to do with Zimmer knowing something the fans/media do not. He did coach the guy for awhile, so if they pass on him, we should probably consider it a blessing.

. @PAOnTheMic says the Sendejo contract is more like a 2 year, $6-7 M deal
