When did Blandino call it the right call? Again, his words were "At full speed an official is going to make that call almost every time". That is far different than saying "it was the right call".

Your think of Mike Carey, that wasn't Blandino or the NFLs official statement.
Yes, the rule says a push or turn is a penalty which is exactly what occured. His thumb pushed the facemask and caused the turn.

Abbredaris no call was a good one. I'm obviously biased but the media consensus on that play was a good no call.
The Abbredaris call was bad, but noone cares because it is irrelevant now.
The hand, thumb specifically went insude the facemask and pushed it right, that it a facemask by rule. Im very familiar with incidental contact, but that doesn't qualify being that it caused a turn of the facemask.

Yep. So even if he did "hook" the facemask (which didn't happen) the defender immediately slid it off and grabbed the shoulder pad. No foul. I don't think it's necessary a conspiracy but definitely a situation where the ref called what he thought happened rather than what he actually saw happen. And it being Rodgers probably also had a little sway in it, too.

The hook is irrelevant, he turned the facemask with his hand, that is a penalty.
I agree, Rodgers did a good job embellishing, and that helped but pushing a facemask from within with your hand is a penalty

that quote is directly from Blandino's twitter page. Mike Carey used very similar phrasing on live tv. I've neither heard nor seen any former or current ref or official statement from the NFL that denotes this as the correct call. They are simply defending the referee's decision to make the call in real time, because it looked like a facemask at the time. I agree with that.
However the replay clearly shows no push/pull/what ever you want to call it and the hand is clearly removed from the facemask in a fraction of a second. Rodgers head moving to the left does not mean he was pulled in that direction. His head jerked, it's that simple.
Now an article on NFL.com, is that better for you?

Jordy - it's the "grasping" part of the rule. There was no grasp. The defender never closed his hand or his thumb while it was in the facemask. Sure, the helmet moved. Helmets move on every big hit.
Let's try an experiment - can you grasp a can of soda while using your thumb without bending your thumb?

You must have seen a different replay then me, mine clearly shows his thumb on the inside bar of the facemask and his head jerking to the right, that is a penalty, you cant push the facemask.

There has to be a grasp and pull, twist, or turn. There was none. Bad call.

The rule says nothing about "pushing"! The defender bumped (or pushed) the facemask. The defender did not grasp the facemask. You know, just like linemen can push the defense but they can't grasp them otherwise it's a hold.

His thumb was inside his helmet on the side part of his facebar, what else could that possibly be? You cant turn the facemask with your hand.

Tsonn, I didn't want to mess with mad qoutes but having a hand inside the helmet pushing a facemask constitutes a turn of the facemask. And the rulebook DOES mention 'pushing'.
