Amen to that. I hope they can do it next week! Gurley has looked tremendous so far.
Hmmm...
 He looks like he's really been enjoying it so the advice must be from someone he respects.

Get to the last stage already!
@Andrew_Krammer Zimmer: 4 stages -- learn to compete, learn to win, handle winning + champion. "We're somewhere between learning to win, handling winning"

 That would be nice. Right now, I'll settle for satying between stages 2 and 3 without going back to stage 1.

Following up on yesterday's tweet:

Winning is only part of Zimmer's success formula for Vikings
Long before their recent roll, Mike Zimmer tried to pass along a lesson to his young Vikings team about finding success, then building upon it.

In his experience, and the coach has a lot of it, he named four stages, or “learns,” as he calls them, to becoming a championship football team.

“1. First you learn how to compete.

“2. Then you learn how to win.

“3. Then you learn how to handle winning.

“4. And then you learn how to be a champion.”

Right now, according to Zimmer, the Vikings still are on step No. 2. But with three consecutive victories and a 5-2 record that has left them within one game of the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North, the Vikings now have their sights on that next step.

I think this helps illustrate why some of us have had that positive view of the teams performance in Denver. The team showed the skill and fight to compete on the road against a very good team. They are, I think, learning how to win.

I think every team out there is either doing likewise or actually winning. I understand there's a process and I understand it's not smooth but that's precisely why I don't put too much stock in a game like that. It's just one game. On any given Sunday...

I think they've shown skill and fight for years. In my view, that's not a new development.

Jeesh, tough crowd. You talk as if they aren't a 5-2 football club. :P

 How? I'm just saying I don't look at a single game, in this case b]a loss[/b], and read more into it than what that single game represents. I see it as one performance among many, nothing more. I assume you're not looking at Green Bay's loss to the same team in the same place and seeing it as representative of their season or where they're headed, right?

I think they've been thoroughly incompetent for years in terms of scheme, secondary, tackling, LBs, etc...And of course at the QB position on offense.

Just my opinion, but with the exception of '09 this team would beat any Vikings team of the last 15 years 9 out of 10 times, and even against the 09 team probably wouldn't be worse than a split.

Other than Favre in 09 and the Williams Wall for a spell, I can't think of any aspect in which those teams were notably better.

Obviously we disagree :v):

Obviously. We seem to have a vastly different understanding of what the phrase "thoroughly incompetent" means too. :)

Woah Jim, relax, I meant no offense, I apologize if that came of as snarky or something.

I must have misunderstood your comment about other teams 'Actually winning'. I read that and just thought that, the Vikes are 'actually winning' as well.
