I love this move. He has been a great slot receiver and knows how to get open. Kudos to Rick, etc. For getting it done.

Woah! I like the guy and it's a good deal and all but I don't see any way he's the best WR on our team

I steal feel for this guy, a real case of a guy with very good talent and work ethic, who's body just let him down. He was recently in my hometown of Winnipeg, trying out for our CFL club, but he was released in training camp due to a torn Achilles. It's hard not to wonder what his career could have been if not for the injuries

Wright was the only WR on the 53 that did not have a contract for next year. This is a good move on the Vikings part. They lock him up for 4 more years without a lot of cap hit in the future if he does not pan out. (Which I doubt)

well said. I like Wright and like this move. Also this gives them some level of flexibility to shed Wallace's huge contract next offseason if he doesn't have a good year or never builds good chemistry with Teddy.

That said I hope Wallace justifies his contract this season and they keep him for the remainder of his contract. I really don't want to go into the draft next year with any excuse NOT to go OL-OL-OL Rds 1-3 :smilevike:

Wallace!! And Johnson and Wright are pretty even right now but after this season, Johnson will quickly pass him IMO.

I realize I'm in the minority but it's games like tonight that are the reason why I'm not high on wright. His MO is he disappears for long stretches at a time. He'll have a great game but 4-5 games in between where he gets 10-20 yards per game. Or zero like tonight.

To get a big paycheck, even as a #3, you need to be more consistent.

I didn't see much effort to get him involved.

100% agreed, just think that money (along with Walsh's bs contract ext) could've gone to Harrison's extension or oline help

I can't imagine Wright being able to do anything Diggs can't do, Diggs has better footwork, speed, a better prospect, etc. He'd just have to get open a few times to replace Wright at the bare minimum. Oh and catch 3rd down passes short of the sticks but Rudolph has that down and Ellison is a work in progress on the catching part but his 3 yard routes when we need 5 are crisp as can be.

That may very well be the case, it's hard to say without watching the tape but it was clear the receivers were having problems getting open tonight and I think he only had 1 target. That's an issue whoever is to blame. I will say I saw a lot of 3 receiver sets tonight so he should have had a good amount of snaps.

Norv was terrible tonight. How does AD only get 10 carries?

Inexcusable. Establish the run and things can flow from there. That's how the team is built. He tried getting too cute and contrarian because he thought the 49ers would be keying in on a run-first game plan. This was a failure on all levels. Zimmer is right; the team bought into the hype without earning anything. Come to Jesus meeting coming early.
