Vikings on the Rise

Not sure if this article has been posted yet because it is a couple weeks old but it's a great read. If it has been posted already, feel free to delete this thread. I think it would generate some good discussion.
I think this article really shows what Spielman and this coaching staff have brought to this team. This is the first year I can really say there isn't a GAPING hole anywhere which in turn, shows that Spielman has continued to improve over the years and that the rebuilding process is really starting to open others eyes. Pair that with a great coaching staff that Spielman and Zimmer brought in, I believe its a recipe for success.

I haven't read the article yet, but I would like to add that not only do teams need to avoid gaping holes, but they also need standout performers. We have that in Smith, Rhodes, Griffen, Sullivan, and Peterson. We also have solid depth on the D-Line, LBs, CB, and WR. If things go the right way, this could be a really fun season.
Re: Vikings on the Rise
Yeah, I think we are closing into the "the window" I believe teams usually get three maybe four years to
win it all. The Niner's are clearly past their window. IMO I think the Seahawk's are in their last year, when
the finally pay Wilson way over 100 million they will have to cut and restrict pay for a lot of guys like Bennet
who want new deals again.

Agreed! 49ers have just imploded! Broncos are in their last year also! can't see Manning playing on past this year. Fins are in the window also regards the amount of money they have committed over the next few years with Suh and Tan but I can't see them doing it.jackal wrote:Yeah, I think we are closing into the "the window" I believe teams usually get three maybe four years to

Re: Vikings on the Rise
I hope the Vikes are truly on the rise and they rise all the way to the top. This week, I had the pleasure of watching my favorite hockey team, the Chicago Blackhawks, win their 3rd Stanley Cup title in 6 years (sorry, I know there are some Wild fans here and I'm not trying to rub it in). A few decades back, I had the pleasure of watching my favorite basketball team, the Bulls, win 6 NBA championships. Those two teams are my favorites because, like most people who grew up in the Chicago area, I became a fan of some of the local sports teams. However, I didn't become a Bears fan. As I've posted here before, my dad was from Minnesota and when I started watching football, I started watching it with him. He was cheering for the Vikes (and cursing at them quite a bit too) so I did likewise and I've never stopped.
The Vikings are the team I've followed the longest and the team I love the most and it's not even close. It pains me that they haven't won a Super Bowl. It pains me even more that they haven't been back to the big game since I was a kid and that some of you have never had a chance to even see them reach a Super Bowl.
Please excuse my rambling. I was watching the championship rally and celebration for the Blackhawks today and it's impossible for me to do that without thinking about how much I want to see, and celebrate, a Vikings championship. I know most of you feel the same way so I hope the Vikes really are on the rise and that the core of the first Vikes team to win Super Bowl is already on the roster. It would be nice if a championship was just around the corner.

Re: Vikings on the Rise
Not sure about the second corner spot. The safety next to Smith. The third linebacker. The nose tackle. The right end. The receivers other than Wallace. Even tight end is a bit of a question mark. And the quarterback is hardly proven.
Gaping? No. But the team still has holes, we'll find out this year just how big they are. Or if they have filled them. It definitely feels like the team is finally moving in the right direction. But some people have felt that way for the last decade...

Re: Vikings on the Rise
Yes the Vikings are not under the radar anymore... Most experts are saying we should be fighting for
a playoff spot this season. To be honest I like the underdog role a little. In the end; you have to be able to
beat good teams and win big games in this league.
