Much better than it was at the beginning of the year
But that was so terrible at the beginning it should be better. That penalty against miami was on a 3rd and 14 when Miami was down at the end of the game. That was a killer penalty. It was against Wallace, so I guess that can't happen again outside of practice

Strengths: Excellent size and length for the position. Experienced working on an island and plays with confidence. Does an excellent job using his body and length to gain inside leverage and keep outside receivers from getting comfortable vertically. Tough-minded competitor and plays with a physical, downhill demeanor, delivering a pop at contact in run support. Always keeps his eyes alert to quickly diagnose and break on break on the ball with natural ball skills to make plays.
Weaknesses: Thin-limbed and is all "arms and legs" with his lanky build, clearly lacking ideal bulk and muscle definition. He is too easily pushed around by wide receivers, too much of an ankle biter in run support and needs to develop his functional strength. Needs to stay balanced in his transition and his technique tends to run hot/cold due to his tendency to bite the apple and freelance. He will also play too hands-on and draw penalties in the NFL.Compares To: Kyle Fuller, Bears -- Waynes plays like a young Fuller and if he can introduce more discipline to his game moving forward, he will have bright future in the NFL.
I think it was the obvious pick that the Vikings had to make, I think Kevin Johnson from Wake Forest might have better hips and change of direction, but Waynes has faced better competition and was well coached. I hope we take a Line backer next.
Personally for me a decent, albeit somewhat boring pick. We really need a good secondary going up against Aaron Rodgers and Matt Stafford, and a Jay Cutler with Kevin White twice per year. CB was sorely disregard by the Frazier staff, so having Waynes and Rhodes along with Smith should lay a foundation for a strong secondary if Waynes works out.
He should match up well with NFCN big receivers like Calvin Johnson and Alshon Jeffrey.

Basically, we have a solid run defender and somebody who can cover over the top. It seems to give Harrison Smith more liberty to be a playmaker, which sound great to me.
I'm not a big fan, but I trust Zimmer and Spielman, so I will be happy to be wrong.
His three cone drill was actually better than Marcus Peter's, I believe.

He gets flaged regularly. I don't think it was a great pick. I would have much rather had Parker, Gordon or traded down. I'm actually really suprised there haven't been any trades yet.
