I deleted a few posts and a reply that quoted one of them. Please tone down the inflammatory rhetoric. I'm not letting this thread get out of control.

Re: Peterson plea deal...
My commments on the latest regarding this dumpster fire were mostly reactionary.
_____
I'm over what he did....no one was killed. Everything heals and life goes on.
I've really been looking forward to having him play this season and him wanting to be on the team. I think they are set to wreck some defenses with the talent they have.
______
The hesitation and possible parting of ways doesn't bother me as much as the murky way it's playing out.
I don't think they should be required to kiss this kid's butt to make him feel better about whatever is the core issue.
If he doesn't want to be here, fine. Just figure it out ASAP.
Everyone will do what they feel is necessary.
I think AD would be a great fit in J-ville or Cleveland......not Dallas.

Re: Peterson plea deal...
Is it possible that the Vikings don't really want him but are using the media to keep his value in a trade?
If they can somehow land Gordon or Gurley along with a top WR in the draft, I think Peterson becomes dispensable.
Whatever. I'm going to focus on the draft right now and whatever happens with Peterson will be fine. It would be great to have him back, but I think the Vikings have showed that they can be very competitive even without Peterson. I'm hoping the Vikings are going to make a push for the SB in 2016 or 2017. If Peterson doesn't want to be in Minnesota, it would make sense to cut ties now and find his replacement.

Uh...deal, bro!
If your job was doing what you love and the only way to be considered the best at it of all time (a goal he has stated multiple times) was to continue doing it and you continued to lash out at me? Yes I would sit you in a room at that office and not let you do your job but keep you on payroll until you stopped. You are the best currently, I want you on my team. IMO I am willing to eat that for a while to see if you stop.
My main issue here is that Peterson appears to be trying to whip up support for the pain and suffering his own stupidity has inflicted on his family. Or he really doesn't get that some people will hound him for the rest of his life about this no matter where he goes. If he wants to go to Dallas just say "hey its been great but now seems like a good a time as any to get a fresh start somewhere." As it is, he strikes me as a EX dumping you but trying to go out of their way to really make it clear you are the worst and thats why this is happening, not that they are just bored, or upset, or tired of it, or think they can do better. But really going out of their way to be like, "We had a great thing but YOU did this and YOU did that"
If you want to move on great, more power to you, negotiate a deal and leave. Stop complaining.

I think its time to move on, trade him. My son and I used to be huge fans, but in the last couple of months he has acted like he is the victim, and im tired of it. This is one of the deepest RB draft classes in ages, trade him and get gordon or Gurley

Re: Peterson plea deal...
Everything is relative. Most "franchise" players would simply require too much from a trading partner for a trade to even be viable, but then again, there's nothing wrong in seeing what someone wants to offer. If the Cowboys were willing to do a reverse-Walker deal, Spielman would be a fool to turn that down over sentimentality or some misguided notion AD can't possibly be replaced.
It seems clear the Vikings want AD back, but if they lack the astuteness to see this as the perfect situation to ignite a bidding war for a possible trade, AD is doing it for them (but doubtful that he's doing it for their benefit). While most teams around the league seem to have figured out that RB isn't a critical position and wouldn't be willing to break the bank for AD, there seem to be a few that might be willing to part with the sort of compensation that would put a smile on Spielman's face. All sentimentality aside, this is a very deep draft at RB. Spielman, especially armed with additional picks, should have no problem scoring a Gurley or Gordon if that is what he wants.
Heck, the way this is playing out in the media (Vikings really want AD back, AD not sure) seems just about designed to maximize possible offers for AD's services.

Re: Peterson plea deal...
My stance on not trading him to Dallas has nothing to do with sentimental concerns.
While it may be a current POV that running backs are mostly equal in the larger schematic blueprint for a championship, there is no denying that AD is a different breed. His presence in Dallas behind that O-line in particular could very well give them what Lynn had hoped to secure in the Hershel Walker fiasco.
Any current playoff team would welcome a weapon like AD into their fold, provided they could realistically afford his contract. If a playofff team could give Minny a trade of equal value they wouldn't be gaining anything from the trade except a huge contract.
I think it would be dumb to trade him to a contender, especially one in our own conference, when a team like Tampa or the Jets would have the more valuable draft picks to offer.....assuming teams of that ilk would have any serious thoughts about a 30yr old $10 million RB.
Essentially, i wouldn't want AD or any Viking to be the piece that gets some other team the Lombardi.....but those may be the only real interested parties for his services.
A trade to Dallas for Demarco Murray and a decent pick would be interesting assuming that we could sign him long term.
I really hope he stays here and just chills out though.
And the guy who posted that BS report about a trade demand would look good in tar and feathers.

That piece will go a long ways in bringing things together.
Put Peterson's brain in Powers and you get this article.
He sounds irritated that Peterson is not rushing into the arms of the Vikings yet his column just works to further the discontent.
Talk about flying backwards...... into the mirror of your own heedlessness even.
While I don't disagree with the base points, that are obvious to anyone paying attention, his tone and sophomoric insults are more message board material than professional journalism, especially given the situation is still in flux. I can't imagine anyone hoping for a peaceful resolve being happy about that piece.
What an idiot as far as timing goes.

Honestly though? How can it make it worse? The organization said everything they should have for the last month and Peterson is still malcontent.

Hopefully a pathetic piece of juvenile drivel like this will cost Power's his job, and any credibility he might have remaining...but it will probably just sell more papers. The Breeze wrote:

I'm not putting a label on the guy. I don't see him as being malcontent as much as being concerned about how the community he is part of truly views him and his family. Power's article and the thinly veiled malice within actually proves his concern to me..... along with the governors past comment.IrishViking wrote:Honestly though? How can it make it worse? I reacted emotionally when I read AD's comments....not because I think Minneapolis is swell and AD owes them...but because I want to see him on the field with TB in Turners system, and because I supported him all the way through this crapola. He has to live there, not me. I get his concern. And if i'm already a millionaire several times over I have plenty of options.
Considering AD is admitedtly weighing his options and feelings regarding his future for what he thinks is best for is family, Power's piece is basically a kick in the butt out the door before anybody that counts has actually met and talked.
Hard to say how much worse it makes a tense situation....but it surely has slim to no chance of helping in terms of making him feel like the community has moved on and wants a frresh start.

Unless Powers is roundly and publicly rejected for this kind of rubbish, which is beneath message board and internet standards by a long shot, and should certainly be beneath the standards of any publication. The Breeze wrote: I'm not putting a label on the guy.
