Eh. Boone is solid, but I don't feel like he is a great player. I feel as though his play is elevated only because he is surrounded by other superior offensive linemen.

Did Marshawn Lynch ever sign?
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." ‪#‎SKOL2018

Yep, he's back. Just over a week ago:

ESPN Seahawks reporter Terry Blount reports Marshawn Lynch was seeking $5 million more than the "concessions" Seattle gave him, bumping his 2014 pay by $1.5 million.

The $1.5 million offer was reportedly on the table from Seattle since way back at minicamp, and moved Lynch's 2014 guaranteed take from $5 million to $6.5 million. "The offer never changed" from the team, per Blount. The Seahawks have still not formally waived the $30,000 per-day fines Lynch incurred during his week-long holdout. Ultimately, zero money was actually added to Lynch's contract. His base pay increased by $1 million by turning would-be incentives into salary, and $500,000 was moved from Lynch's 2015 pay into 2014. Per Blount, Lynch "realizes there's a good possibility" he is cut next offseason. Aug 1 - 4:43 PM

The Washington Post reports the NFL is considering toughening up its penalties against players who commit domestic violence, including a potential one-year ban for a second offense.

This is obviously a direct result of the joke of a two-game suspension Ray Rice received for knocking out his then-fiancée in a casino and dragging her out of an elevator over the winter. Per the report, a first offense would mean a 4-6 game suspension and a season-long ban for a second-time offender. The new policy is said to be under consideration at the moment. The NFL clearly realizes it needs to take a harder stance against domestic violence.

Two guys who have received some Vikings' fan love:

The Boston Globe reports there has been "increasing talk" that the Patriots may keep only two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.

That would leave Ryan Mallett as the odd man out. Just last week, NFL Network's Mike Mayock dubbed Mallett a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL. Mallett then struggled badly in the preseason opener, completing 5-of-12 passes for 55 yards and showing shockingly poor timing and accuracy. The Patriots may try to "showcase" Mallett for a potential trade again this week, but it appears second-round rookie Jimmy Garoppolo is ahead of him to be Tom Brady's caddy.

------------
The Newark Star-Ledger believes Giants second-year QB Ryan Nassib is in danger of not making the 53-man roster.

Nassib's stock has fallen far. Just last April, he was being talked up as a potential top-ten pick in the 2013 draft. Nassib ended up lasting until the fourth round, where the Giants traded up to get him. He was then believed to be in line to succeed Eli Manning. Now, he may lose his roster spot to Curtis Painter, the same Curtis Painter that has an 0-8 career record with a 57.6 passer rating.
