NFL-AM Top 100 plays of 2013: Chris Cook burned

Post by NextQuestion »

NFL-AM show has done 100-mid 80s and so far Chris Cook getting absolutely smoked has been on there twice.

* Matt Flynn to Jarret Boykin in overtime in Lambeau. It's so silly how lost he looks

* Percy Harvin's ONLY reception all year on a 3rd & long play and Harvin catches it one handed.

What are some other classic Chris Cook ones that'll make the list? Two Alshon Jeffrey plays and I'm sure the PI against AJ Green where HE STILL catches it for a TD on the ground will make it. Any others?

The first two are so bad they're funny. The third one, he just got beat by a very good receiver. He had no play on the ball, or it may have been just as comical.

The poor guy is just terrified to get a PI call near the end zone, so he just runs alongside them hoping that is enough. Understandable. :D

What a shame the Vikings wasted a pick on this guy and then stuck with him after he choked his girlfriend. He owed Frazier bigtime for that and Cook completely let him down.

I agree. But you know what's worse? I have this fear that he will actually become a baller with the 49ers. He will magically learn to put his hands up and defend the pass; the light bulb will go on and he'll be a pro-bowler... after we sat through all of his trials and tribulations both on and off the field.

I had the same worry about Tyrell Johnson. That didn't exactly pan out. I don't know if you can teach ball skills/awareness. It'd be surprising if he was more than a #3 or #4 corner, barring injury.

I hope you're right. It is probably just the feeling that we've invested a high pick in this guy, sat around for him to get his schnit together off-field and then he runs out on the turf and lays an egg over and over... If he WERE to turn it around, it would just be so frustrating and so typical of the Vikings' (lack of) luck.

I agree. Let Cook face the QB, he'll be fine. He can use his long arms and frame to get his hands on a few passes. But get him turned and running, turn out the lights. Dude has zero ability to adjust or even read what the receiver is doing. He just turns and runs and usually falls down at the end. He looked like the CB version of Troy Williamson at WR. It all looks fine until the ball is there, and then you just sit in amazement wondering how a pro football player can be that inept.

It was a questionable pick to start with, and unfortunately the gamble didn't come close to paying off. Good luck 49ers, but I think Poet is right on the money.

I'd be surprised if Cook was more than a 4 in SF. They've got Brock, P.Cox, Culliver (maybe, we'll see), and then Cook. Though, the criticism for Carlos Rogers for years was that he wouldn't make interceptions and he was an All-Pro in 2011 with Harbaugh's 49ers

He literally has the worst ball skills of any CB I have ever seen in the NFL. Just terrible

Hopefully he'll work out for SF as well as Karl Paymah did when they "snagged him" from us... (although technically it was Denver that actually wasted their 3rd round pick on him - we just picked him up during his meandering journey out of the NFL) 8)
