I think it's definitely possible. Analysts are starting to say that Teddy might fall like Geno did last year

If anything the fact that this is getting media coverage actually makes it more likely that they DO pick a QB at 8.
I'm inclined to agree. In fact, the first thing I thought when I read your comment about Hartman above was "Okay, so which QB are the Vikings selecting at #8?"

This delayed draft is a drag. We're all eager to digest draft related info and undergo the spring ritual of renewal (refashioning your team's ID via the draft), but at this point it's just all smoke and mirrors. Who in their right mind is going to speak openly and sincerely to the press about their intentions in the draft? And yet, the collective desire (readership) drives the machine--so articles are produced. It's an exercise in futility, but I'm pulled in despite being aware of that!
I like Gilbert with the first pick a lot. I think he's a slam dunk, but I'm not sure how interested we are in him. No way I can see him flopping, he looks like he could be an elite cornerback right now. He would be one of the fastest in the league, he has a good amount of size, he has great ball skills and doesn't drop interceptions, and he's just quick to react to the receiver's movements. He reminds me a ton of Revis.

Gilbert is just more physically impressive I think. He seems like he's pretty good at everything that he does. Great vision, he's fast, he's pretty big, he can jump, and he has been tested in a tougher conference in my opinion. Not many corners can match his production, other than Dennard.
I would be happy with either as well, maybe even more than I like one of the top 3 pass rushers with the way this secondary is, and knowing how hard it is to find a great "lockdown" cornerback. I just have to give Gilbert a slight edge because I think his athletic traits give him a higher ceiling. Dennard might fit in better with what Zimmer wants, though.

They are almost equal to me as well. But the tide seems to have turned to Gilbert now. If Teddy isn't there, I would love either of those CB's r the top 3 LB's.

Dennard is supposedly a great team leader, and I wonder if they drafted him, would they consider drafting a couple of his teammates. Max Bullough seems like a Zimmer type of guy. I like the safety too, Isiah Lewis. I think I mocked him to us earlier this year.

Manziel
Clinton-Dix
Dennard
Gilbert
Mosley (I would love this. Some people compare him to Bowman or Willis)
Watkins (never will happen)
Bridgewater
If we go defense in the first round...I'd say grab the Pitt QB or Mettenberger at 40
Bridgewater, Manziel, and Watkins are the only players I believe are worth picking at 8. IMO

...and a gaping hole at LG. I just salivate at our line if Robinson can play LG (which I think he can) and play up to his potential. He has the potential to be another Hutchinson. In the game of trench warfare, we could have a distinct advantage with that line. I know I'm probably dreaming.
