Rudolph also said that he thinks he's the best TE in the NFL.

Re: 2014 Free Agent Tracker & Discussion
Rudolf is a good tight end but not the best...

I guess this season will determine whether we should give him a huge contract in the next offseason.

I get that Rudolph really had no choice to answer that question any differently. However, Rudolph isn't an elite TE yet. I would say the elite TEs are: Vernon Davis (no one blocks as well and is as big of vertical threat as him), Jimmy Graham, Gronk, Jordan Cameron, and Greg Olsen. Rudolph is certainly in the top ten in the league, but he has a long way to go until he is the best in the NFL.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had a grin on his face when he was asked to name the NFL's best tight end and he responded with "me". He's never struck me as a player whose ego is out of control.HardcoreVikesFan wrote:I get that Rudolph really had no choice to answer that question any differently. Who is "she"? Does Wilf's wife actually call the shots?

She's the secret power behind the scenes at Winter Park.

Good one guys.

Funny things is, with the level of QB play and the broken offense that the Vikings have had over the past couple of years the Vikings could have Gronkowski or Graham or Davis and they would look no better than Rudolph. He very well _could_ be the best TE in the NFL and nobody would really know it.

Now you get it, and maybe his comment wasn't so funny after all.Eli wrote:Funny things is, with the level of QB play and the broken offense that the Vikings have had over the past couple of years the Vikings could have Gronkowski or Graham or Davis and they would look no better than Rudolph. Nah, I understand why he made the comment, but I don't think he really is the best; however, I think he is a heck of a lot better than we have seen. Who knows what he could have been doing with a better offense/Qb. Hopefully we'll get to see it in purple and not some other color! Extend the man!

Re: 2014 Free Agent Tracker & Discussion
If Rudolph could play with Brees or Brady I think he very well could be a top 5 tight end. The only ones I would say for certain are better than him are Gronk and Graham. Somewhere between 3-5 would be my guess of where he truly falls. With our QB's he looks like the 7th or 8th.
Re: 2014 Free Agent Tracker & Discussion
Rudolph needs to stay healthy to be considered a top tier TE. 2012 was a good year for him but he's no good if he's on the sideline like he was half of last year.
Re: 2014 Free Agent Tracker & Discussion
Chris Johnson is free, and I hadnt actually gave it any thought until now, but imagine a backfield with AD and CJ2K. With the seriously deflated RB market, and the Vikings need for another back, is it worth a few million dollar investment to bring him in? AD probably doesnt want to share the backfield, but it would certainly be a big weapon for that offense on passing situations or even a 2-back set.
