Melton and Joseph play different positions. Melton is a 3-technique, Joseph a 1-technique.

I think it's more of an opportunity to get a high caliber player for a low cost. Melton would probably be a short term, prove it contract because of the injury. He and Floyd would likely rotate and then depending on how they feel about Floyd's progression they could let Melton walk or they could sign him to an extension. That's my guess anyway
Yes that's what I think too. We aren't going to shovel out some monster contract for Melton when we have Floyd on the roster. My guess is it would be a 1-2 year deal.

The Bears are still interested, as are the Vikings. That's interest from at least 3 teams and we're 1.5 days into free agency so there may be more interest than that if he doesn't sign with somebody.

Nothing wrong with having a back up plan if Floyd doesn't improve or gets injured. That's the move that helps you avoid a Ponder type situation.

The link I posted said the ONLY team linked to Melton to date was Dallas. I haven't heard anything about Chicago.

Don't hate on my Buckeyes. Some of the best Vikings went to Ohio State.

For those that don't much about Munnerlyn, he's probably one of the better CB's left out there right now. He is coming off a career year this past year with the Panthers. He was an every down corner on the outside for Carolina and then kicked inside in their nickel packages. He graded out as the #11 CB according to PFF.

I would love this signing and actually had us signing him in one of my mocks!!

Throw enough darts and eventually one of um will stick!

I'd take the captain, certainly better than what we've got, please sign for a reasonable amount!

He'd be an upgrade, but my expectations would be tempered. He benefited quite a bit from playing behind one of the best front sevens in the NFL but would be a monumental upgrade on Josh Robinson in the slot.

Well we're going to have a pretty solid front 4!! Hopefully we can add some solid LB's and we wouldn't be much different. The thing I like about Munnerlyn the most is how he can play outside and inside!!!

Huh. This is the first I've heard of this:
Munnerlyn would be a key pickup for #Vikings at slot corner. They nearly brought Winfield back last Sept. w/Robinson struggling.

Yes they had talks with Winfield but he wanted to go to a contender and then ended up getting cut by Seattle

I thought this meant after he was cut
