Re: 4 former vikes get SB rings
Bottom line here, people, Ponder sucks, Harvin is a very good receiver. We no longer have Harvin, and are stuck with Ponder. Harvin ended up with a Super Bowl ring...we just have that brown ring in the toilet bowl. The rest is all "he said, she said". Harvin Chose to not be in MN. Whether he recognized the failures we had at QB/Coach/OL or not, he is gone and on a much better team now. That Sucks. Time for a new rebuild.....again.....

Settle down there Al Bundy (not impressed that you played peewee hockey) big whoop. Does that give you some type of better insight into the VikingsWebbfann wrote: I didn't say Harvin's proneness to injury was caused by Ponder. That was a pre-existing condition. I said Ponder put him in a position that increased his risk of injury due to late, telegraphed throws with defenders locked in on him. Harvin would be open for a long time before the ball got to him. When it finally came defenders had a bead on him. Time after time after time. Because he's PH he was still able to escape most of them. But it absolutely increased his already high chances of injury.

Come on now. I asked if he had played team sports before, as I was wondering about his perspective on Harvin quitting on his team. He just answered my question. No need to flame him for that.Purple bruise wrote:Settle down there Al Bundy (not impressed that you played peewee hockey) big whoop. Thanks. And I'm doubtful he would have said it to me on ice anyway, because I would have either scored 3 goals while he was flapping his yapper or taken him down.frosted21 wrote: Come on now. Re: 4 former vikes get SB rings
I didn't read the whole thread but I saw some complaining about Harvin. Chris Hawkey (ugh) from the Power Trip Morning Show on KFAN (ughhhh) I guess told the story about Harvin/Frazier sideline spat over the air the day Leslie got fired. I guess what was said during their fight on TV wasn't so bad but it was the stuff he said on the sideline, walking into the tunnel, locker room, that was over the line disrespectful to Frazier.

So....what did he say? Or is this just more hearsay about something nobody actually heard him say? And if somebody heard it, what was it then?

Re: 4 former vikes get SB rings
This is a good question. I don't know what he said but Chris Hawkey does the producing for the KFAN radio broadcasts for the Vikings. He's with the team at home games, travels on their plane, and probably even stays at same hotel. Look, Hawkey is a tremendous idiot but I believe him a little bit. I guess whatever Harvin uttered was too dirty for the radio.Webbfann wrote:So....what did he say? Or is this just more hearsay about something nobody actually heard him say? 95% of what is uttered on the field is too dirty for the radio.NextQuestion wrote: This is a good question. Sidney Rice is going to be released by the Seahawks. That's how valuable he is to them. "Here's your ring. Bye."

I saw on rotoworld that since his 2009 season... Rice has like 120 catches total? JESUS

Re: 4 former vikes get SB rings
There were designed throws to Harvin. If you blame someone for that, blame Musgrave. Of course, I don't know how you blame a guy wanting to get the ball to one of the best offensive weapons in the NFL, but whatever.
I never liked his play calling before or after Percy Harvin. But Musgrave didn't throw the ball. Its been noted by many, not just myself, that Ponder needed his receivers to be way open before he'd pull the trigger. And that's what he'd do. He'd wait until he was sure PH was open but by that time defenders were closing the gap at full speed. It was only a fraction of a second probably. Percy could still make plays out of it sometimes by sheer talent, but there is such a thing as leaving your receivers vulnerable. Ponder did it. And Percy had to know it.
Poppycock. Defenders always had a bead on him. Just like they always do on every great player. I don't recall a lot of plays where Harvin was standing around waiting for the ball and then got lit up. And often the nature of the play (like a bubble screen) there's a few seconds that need to pass for the play to develop (as opposed to Ponder being late).
I guess we see it differently. I remember many times thinking Harvin was about to get clobbered again because of Ponder's poor execution (of Musgrave's poor play calls).
Yeah, I don't buy it that Ponder had anything to do with Harvin's injury history. Harvin's playing style has a lot more to do with it.
I didn't say Ponder led to a single Harvin injury. I only intended to say that he left him in a position where he was vulnerable to injury. A position where Percy would have been constantly aware of being vulnerable because of it. And I don't think he liked it. Football is hard enough on your health without having your own guys put you at risk.

114 to be exact. 17 in MN in 2010 and in three years in Seattle 97. About 32 year. Total of 14 TD's in that time period.NextQuestion wrote:I saw on rotoworld that since his 2009 season... Rice has like 120 catches total? JESUS
And oh, his cap figure for 2014. $9.7 million.
Vikings fan since Nov. 6, 1966. Annoying Packer fans since Nov. 7, 1966

I don't blame them. Huge disappointment when he was considered as one of the top WR FA's after he left us. The guy has not done nothing since the 2009 season.Eli wrote:Sidney Rice is going to be released by the Seahawks. That's how valuable he is to them. "Here's your ring. Bye."

He has been hurt more then any Viking I can remember. Maybe PH, I don't know who has been injured more since we got them. Wonder where he will land.NextQuestion wrote:I saw on rotoworld that since his 2009 season... Rice has like 120 catches total? JESUS

So what if they won a super bowl. Those pansies are just lucky to be on a team where they did little to nothing to get where they are. Especially, Percy Harvin, the most undeserving, whiny, ungrateful piece of #### NFL player in the NFL. Well I guess he's happy now, he got his ring, despite being absent majority of the season.
It kills me that we still don't have a ring, yet our former players seem to find ways to win super bowls on other teams.
