Re: Rick Spielman Interview
Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings
Vikings GM Rick Spielman told Profootballtalk.com on Friday that there is "no chance" Adrian Peterson will be traded this offseason.
Minnesota could probably get a second-round pick for A.D., but the Vikings want him to finish his career playing in purple. "Adrian is not going anywhere," said Spielman, adamantly. "We have him under contract. He's the face of our franchise. He is a blue-chip player. And we have a new coaching staff in place, and (the Vikings are) very excited about what's coming ahead for us."

Cue the obligatory: "Yeah, that's what he said about Percy Harvin, too" comments.

Re: Rick Spielman Interview
Yeah, I thought the same thing when I heard it. The overreaction to his comments will likely ensue. They did sound very similar to what he said about Harvin (blue chip player) though. I believe him this time though, and he did fleece the Seachickens with the Harvin deal. He wouldn't find a trade that attractive for Adrian. It AIN'T HAPPPENING!!dead_poet wrote:Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings

Re: Rick Spielman Interview
I loved Florio's opening comment before the interview. Doesn't sound like he has much faith in either Spielman or Zimmer. Or maybe he just figures it's a given in Minnesota.
Ya think?Moving forward, Rick Spielman, Mike Zimmer, joined at the hip, because if it doesn't work, now, chances are the Vikings go in an entirely new direction.
Re: Rick Spielman Interview
Wow...obvious statement is obvious by Florio. I would hope that every NFL team operates that way.Eli wrote:I loved Florio's opening comment before the interview. Doesn't sound like he has much faith in either Spielman or Zimmer. Or maybe he just figures it's a given in Minnesota.

I have never been a fan of Florio. He is kind of a drama queen, and PFT has become too much like TMZ lately. Plus he deletes all of my comments on his website haha.thatguy wrote: Wow...obvious statement is obvious by Florio. I would hope that every NFL team operates that way.

Re: Rick Spielman Interview
I think what Florio was trying to say is that if Zimmer doesn't work out, Spielman probably gets the ax, too. But that would be a rather heavy-handed intro for an interview with a GM. If you ever want to speak to him again.
It struck me as particularly odd to make that statement within days of the new head being hired and with his whole staff not even in place yet. Speculating about the direction a franchise might take if the current new direction doesn't work out. Bizarre.

Re: Rick Spielman Interview
Wow Frazier is gone so let's turn all of the negative attention towards Spielman.
Harvin and AD are two entirely different circumstances. Prissy wanted/demanded out and AD, although saying that he would not mind playing in Texas, has not made any public spectacle (on the sidelines) or anywhere else wanting to be traded. He is the face of the franchise, is under contract and by most accounts will remain on the team.
I think Spielman has done a great job hiring Zimmer and and Turner and I am looking forward to another one of his grade A drafts.

Re: Rick Spielman Interview
Agree. I think Spielman generally does a good job. Like I said, the Harvin trade looks pretty good now, granted it is early. And he has hit big on a few draft picks.Purple bruise wrote:Wow Frazier is gone so let's turn all of the negative attention towards Spielman.![]()

I think the majority of the criticism he takes has to do with the quarterback situation.

And making some questionable free agent signings.I think the majority of the criticism he takes has to do with the quarterback situation.
Along with a lack of overall success everywhere else in the draft.
I'd hate to be Zimmer and try to overcome Spielman's personnel decisions...

Compare to...well hell let's just grab our head coaches previous team.mrc44 wrote: Wrong, go look at our drafts, go look at other teams drafts, compare, evaluate... get back to us

A break down taking place in the real world?...mrc44 wrote:thats 10-12 starters in the last 3 drafts... plus many more to come.. thats half the starting positions answered in some manner over the last 3 years!! not to mention the good back ups like Ellison and special teams players
what more do you want Demi?
Rudolph, Fusco, Smith, Kalil, Floyd, Rhodes, Patterson. Starters.
Locke/Walsh. Starters.
What more can I ask? He's drafting P/K higher than most teams. Some of which don't draft them at all. "Showed promise" for half of them. But not a single one do we really know. Rudolph looked good...in the pro bowl. When it doesn't even matter.
You told me to look at other teams, and compare. I did. The first team that came to mind. And they had better drafts. Legitimate contributing starters. And you just ignore it and say "they had better coaches". Could it be they had better TALENT? Because their front office found better talent for the coaches to use? Not sure how I can possibly make an argument when players we have all have "potential" or showed "promise". And when I point out another team...it was the coaching that they worked out and actually played with that potential or promise.

Totally agree about PFT. They are very pro Steeler and Patriots, but they love to harass some of the other teams. I have had a lot of really good points that have been deleted by that site if it doesn't fit their agenda and has too many "likes" on it.I have never been a fan of Florio. Re: Rick Spielman Interview
You can always looks at our record, and how many pro bowlers we have the past few years and see what kind of a job Rickie has done. Or is Fraizer (who most of you supported whole heartedly until you knew he was getting the axe) 100% responsible for the joke of a record we have? And being in the cellar 2 out of 3 years. Ask Miami what they though about Rickie. To me Rickie is about 50/50. This year his job is on the line, the same as Fraizers was last year.
