Yeah I would like that signing. That would just about guarantee us passing on Nix but Raji would be solid next to Floyd.PurpleScout wrote:Packers NT BJ Raji has stated he will not resign with the Packers because of the 3-4 defense. he wants to be a true d tackle in a 4-3 and has told the packers this. pair him with floyd and we shored the middle of our defense for the next 7 years. robison and michael johnson or griffen on the outside. that covers up a lot of def back field deficiencies.

Re: 2014 Potential Free Agent Targets
They definitely found a gem in Fusco. He was a top 5 OG in the NFL this year according to PFF.GBFavreFan wrote:I've yet to see these Vikings find that gem at guard, if there's one position they should consider free agency its guard. Look at the Saints and Bears, and what a difference one free agent offensive linesman can make. I know the consensus seems to be don't waste money draft them instead, but you can get a guy for relative cheap, and it pays HUGE dividends. And considering how awesome our team is going to be with Zimmer/Turner, we might as well fortify that line!

Interesting, that'd be a good pick up I think. More so because what we have is awful though so it depends on how much he wants. A reasonable deal though would be worth the upgrade.PurpleScout wrote:Packers NT BJ Raji has stated he will not resign with the Packers because of the 3-4 defense. he wants to be a true d tackle in a 4-3 and has told the packers this. pair him with floyd and we shored the middle of our defense for the next 7 years. robison and michael johnson or griffen on the outside. that covers up a lot of def back field deficiencies.

If Raji is so particular about his playing situation that he's unwilling to remain with the team that drafted him 9th overall, then how do you envision him wanting to play for the Vikings on such an awful defense?

The answer you're expecting is "the opportunity to play for a defensive genius like Zimmer" but that's a trap, isn't it?Eli wrote:If Raji is so particular about his playing situation that he's unwilling to remain with the team that drafted him 9th overall, then how do you envision him wanting to play for the Vikings on such an awful defense?

Given that this answer never would have occurred to me, I can safely say that it was the last answer I was expecting. I honestly can't think of a reason why he'd want to come to Minnesota, apart from someone throwing bags of money at him.BGM wrote: The answer you're expecting is "the opportunity to play for a defensive genius like Zimmer" but that's a trap, isn't it?

I believe you just answered your own question for 90% of the NFL, including Raji.Eli wrote: Given that this answer never would have occurred to me, I can safely say that it was the last answer I was expecting. Re: 2014 Impending and Potential Free Agent Targets
Anybody know what Cincy free agents would look good in Purple? Especially defensive guys that might want to follow Zimmer?
Edit: Looks like the following might be the best prospects: DE Michael Johnson, OT Anthony Collins, SS/LB Taylor Mays

Oh, oh pick me!dead_poet wrote:Anybody know what Cincy free agents would look good in Purple? Especially defensive guys that might want to follow Zimmer?
Here are some players I would like:
1). Michael Johnson (DE) - He had a down year this year, but the guy is a freak. He isn't even close to 30 yet either. Johnson's down year will drive his value down a little bit, but he will still probably command around a 5 year 25 million dollar deal.
2). Vincent Rey (MLB) - Rey played very well this year when Maluga went down. Unfortunately, Rey is a RFA. Rey would be a good fit here: he is smart, not slow/sluggish, and has pretty good coverage.
3). Taylor Mays (SS) - Mays has never lived up to the hype he had coming out of USC. The guy hits extremely hard and is very athletic however. He would be a great player for depth.
4). Anthony Colings/Dennis Roland (OT) - Either of these guys would be great options for depth at tackle. Collins was a starter this year after Andrew Withworth had to kick inside to LG due to injuries. Collins will probably not want to come here because he wouldn't start. Rolland has great size and would be a nice veteran insurance policy at RT/LT.

Mark Craig just mentioned NE ILB Brandon Spikes as a potential target as a two-down thumper. He's a stud vs. the run.

Yeah. He'd also not really fit in here. We have a pretty decent set of receivers (finally).NextQuestion wrote:Interesting list of 49ers who are UFAs

I'd take Boldin over Simpson, but I'm guessing Simpson won't be back and we want to promote Wright.
