I must say I have to agreePurpleKoolaid wrote:
What is it you liked about Fraizer, as a coach? He was a nice guy, everyone liked him. I will even go as far as saying he had morals and was a good human being. The kind of guy you want to do well. But he was a horrible coach imo. He didn't develop talent, and didn't know how or when to use it when it was there. He was extremely stubborn, which may work when your doing well, but doesn't when you lose, and keep losing in the same way.
That isn't all he does tho, he will smile and pat a player on his back for a job well done too, players love the guy. This could be the best hire this year.thatguy wrote:Being a staunch supporter of Leslie Frazier, I'm disappointed that they hired someone who likes to use profanity so often, but I feel like he's the better coach, so yes.
To be fair Montana was the same way, hence the nickname cool Joe.Laserman wrote:I'm happy to see a enthusiasctic . Frasier reminded me of warren Moon, no passion, never excited or pissed off. almost like they don't care. I hope Zimmer chews these guys out left and right and motivates them to succeed.![]()

I knew from the moment Jim Harbaugh got hired by Stanford that my Cardinal would be a zillion times better. This time, I don't have that same sense of assurance, but that's only because in the NFL the head coach isn't the guy primarily responsible for bringing in talented players, he's only responsible for coaching the talent. As for his ability to do his job (coach), he appears to be an excellent choice. And while I do have doubts that he'll take us to the promised land, he surely will improve the team to a degree.Orion wrote:Hell. Yes.
And who gives a #### how much profanity he uses. I hate the Harbaughs but I've always appreciated their enthusiasm and passion for the game. It's high time we have a coach with a similar mindset and not easy to back down.
Oh I don't feel they are the same! Frazier was loyal to Dungy, so was basically married to the cover 2 scheme, despite not having the personel to run it, mainly a MLB who can cover the middle of the field. I just hope Zimmer is good at fitting a scheme to his talent on the field, and not force a scheme regardless of the players. The last 2 coaches were going to run what they ran come hell or high water, and it felt very rigid.MountainGirl wrote:Yes, by far. I've seen people post that since Zimmer and Frazier were both Bengals defensive coordinators, they must be the same. Not true. Zimmer was the best Cincinnati defensive coordinator since Dick LeBeau. Frazier was fired from the Bengals DC job. Zimmer has a great personality and is beloved by his players but at the same time he will demand excellence and kick their butts if they slack off. Frazier appears to be more mild mannered. Zimmer will be a great head coach. He needs some time to put the pieces of the puzzle together, especially QB, but I feel the Vikings go at least 8-8 next year, and then improve upon that each year.
I agree. Zim won't have trouble finding or developing a good MLB. Defense is his bread and butter. I can't speak to what he will do with the QB position, but I feel confident that he will not only find a good QB, but get the absolute best out of him, because that's what he does.PurpleHalo wrote: Oh I don't feel they are the same! And that is job 1 for a franchise that has had some issues developing passers. The success will be determined by how that part of the job is performed. But I am not sure how much say he will have on which passers are aqquired. That is the tough part of coaching, when you live and die by what is handed to you. I hope he asked for some say in that before he signed on the dotted line. But it's a fresh start for us all, and we are behind him, I have a lot of hope right now. I don't think we have ever hired a guy with this much personality in my time, it just hasn't been the Viking way. I like it because it's different, the old way hasn't worked, so why not.MountainGirl wrote: I agree. Zim won't have trouble finding or developing a good MLB. Defense is his bread and butter.
