I with the other 88% here that think he'll be an upgrade.
Actually, a GIANT upgrade, especially if he lands a decent OC that can allow him to concentrate on the defense.
I'm real excited about this hire but I find it curious that there is no mention of the hire on Vikings.com??

Don't pick a fight with an old Viking. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

I feel that Zimmer is a head coach that the Vikings will embrace and a move that will usher in a new era of Vikings history.

I think he is a definite upgrade. It appears that he has the ability to motivate his players enough to overachieve, something Les isn't exactly known for.
But he cannot turn this franchise around by himself. This hiring is great, but Spielman needs to help "his guy" out and upgrade several positions.

seeing that the Lord above can produce your opponents, from accross the grocery isle, why meddle with it?Reignman wrote:Are you f#$^#* serious?

More experience as a coordinator. Better coaching tree. Better track record coaching up players. He's an upgrade in every way possible.
Maybe he isn't as nice of a guy though. Might hurt some feelings. And he swears so he'll go to hell I suppose.

They will adjust by either playing better or not playing at all.........and to answere the poll question.....HELL YES ZIMMER IS AN UPGRADE!!!!! Unfortunately, anyone that could unfold their arms would be an upgrade over Frazier. How much of an upgrade we will have to wait and see but I am really excited about the teams direction for the first time in quite a while.Purple Jesus wrote:I wonder how the players will adjust from having Frazier, who was the nice guy, to having a fiery, in your face kind of stricter coach?

All I've heard about this guy is how much players respect and love him so I doubt this will be an issue.Purple Jesus wrote:I wonder how the players will adjust from having Frazier, who was the nice guy, to having a fiery, in your face kind of stricter coach?
I'm not sure what you're getting at there, but there were A LOT of clergy members who couldn't keep their hands off children for decades without any meddling from this voyeuristic lord you speak of but I'm expected to believe he might be concerned about some profanity? That's some seriously f@$#^* up priorities right there.purpletinted66 wrote: seeing that the Lord above can produce your opponents, from accross the grocery isle, why meddle with it?

Is this a serious question?

You do come up with good ones every once in a while. Either that or I am easily amused.

What talent did he not develop? Aside from Chris Cook, it wasn't like there were a bunch of guys that had super-high upside that didn't get "developed" by him. I mean, you could look at someone like Sherels and say he took a small guy with a very low ceiling and turned him into a quality cornerback.PurpleKoolaid wrote:He didn't develop talent, and didn't know how or when to use it when it was there. He was extremely stubborn, which may work when your doing well, but doesn't when you lose, and keep losing in the same way.
I am hoping Zimmer wont keep doing the same things, over and over again and expecting different results, like Fraizer did.

My point is, even if there was talent there he didn't use it. Half the time he didn't know he had it until there was an injury. And he stuck with Ponder when 99% of the population of MN knew Cassel was at least slightly better. I could go on but you get the gist of it. He was horrible with time management too. Everyone liked him. I loved Tice too, as did the Players. But im not going to say he was a great HC and he had more wins then Fraizer, with an owner who wouldn't spend a penny on the team.thatguy wrote: What talent did he not develop? I'm happy to see a enthusiasctic . Frasier reminded me of warren Moon, no passion, never excited or pissed off. almost like they don't care. I hope Zimmer chews these guys out left and right and motivates them to succeed.
