I want Gruden, you know if he gets in a pinch big brother will offer him advice. And I want an offensive head coach, to help groom a potential QB for years. Plus he's young, and can have the job for a long time and offer stability. That is provided the rest of the franchise doesn't run aground, and have to change coaches every 3-4 years.

Could that be why they aren't jumping too fast right now? They want to wait and see on the Bengals guys. That could also be why other teams have been quiet......

They have made it very clear that the search will be extensive. They would like to interview a number of candidates, so I don't believe they are merely waiting for the Bengals coaches to become available so they can hire one of them. They have a list of candidates and they will wait to interview each one before they make a decision. Which means there could be coaches on any of the 8 teams playing this weekend that they will consider

Rickie also swore Harvin wasn't going anywhere. And yet people take him at his word. how many players do we have going to the pro bowl this year?

GMs/Coach almost never admit they are openly shopping a player, as it admits that there is no way said player will return to the team, and gives leverage in negotiations to the teams looking to trade for him.

And I don't even understand what the second part of your post relates to anything

It would suck to be Jeff Davidson, unless he knows that the Vikings will be retaining him. Can they really know yet? Do they plan on telling their new head coach which coaches they must keep? Or is Davidson being considered for head coach or OC?

It's going to be interesting to see just how badly the Vikings front office can #### this up too.

I'm in favor, though would prefer Hue Jackson over Turner but Turner is a pretty solid OC.

Ray Horton - DL - Free Agent

The Vikings will interview ex-Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton for their head-coaching gig on Tuesday.

It's incredibly rare for just-fired coordinators and position coaches to immediately get head-coaching jobs, but Horton could be the exception. His defenses have regularly played above their talent levels. Horton may also be likely to retain OC Norv Turner, as Turner coached him as a player in Dallas and gave him his first coaching job in '94.

Orton would be bomb. He's got a young DB in Rhodes but I'm really scared about our DL and LB personnel

Horton is an interesting idea. I know the Browns defenses have been pretty good. However I know very little else about him. I really want a "proven" head coach though but I know there are not many of those out there. Whatever they decide I hope the search is thorough and if takes time I'm OK with that.

He was in CLE for one year but I feel like he really made Arizona into a tough D. Bowles gets the credit for this year

Got it!
If he'd written "Orton would bomb" I would have known this would be not good, and had he written "Orton would be the bomb" I would have known this would be good. But simply "Orton would be bomb" I was honestly confused, thanks for the clarification :v):

Mike Munchak just fired by Tennessee, another head coaching job opening, will Vikings decide on coach sooner rather than later?

Sounds like he could have kept his job if he fired some of his staff; he chose not to and went down with them.

Pretty respectable.
