Yep, incredible. And AC as a punt returner was fantastic!!PurpleHalo wrote: Do you remember the Saints took a 10 point lead, and the Vikings went 44 unanswered.
And that 49er game, was to that point the only game Montana was ever benched, not sure if it happened later in his career but yeah.

The 75 team is my favorite. with the 98 teams being a close second. The 73 team and the 87 teams were fun to watch too.
I wasn't 'around to watch the 69 team but the most dominant Viking team I ever saw was the 73 team..

I don't know why but I was thinking about this because of the dome deflation. The 1998 title game was my first of that magnatude that I attended. One thing that was so cool, was all the old school looking Viking battle gear. It's like people were waiting for a game like that to bust it out. Helmets, headgear going over the nose, stuff like that. Shortly after I got season tickets, and I have never seen anything like it since. Was that common for huge games at the Met? I had that feeling like, I wasn't in Kansas anymore Toto. It felt sorta creepy in a medieval sorta way, but it was awesome.

1998 was such an exciting season, and the Vikings were frighteningly good. I would have to say the mid 70s, when I first became a fan at the tender age of "none of your business", were my favorite teams, not because I like living in the past, but because of memories of being outside pretending I was Tarkenton and Foreman.

No love for the Culpepper era of 2000 or 2004?

Re: Favorite Vikings Team of all time.
I have a hard time picking. I was eight years old in 1998, but I cried my eyes out when we lost. I watched every game with my brother and old man, and was enchanted by all of it, but it's hard for me to call that my favorite season, since I was so young.
I had a similar experience in 2009. A bit older, so rather than crying when we lost, I drank. Heavily. Since I was able to understand and watch/over analyze every little bit of that season, I might call that my favorite season ever, I suppose.
I had a lot of fun in 2003 though. Moss had an incredible season, Daunte played well, Brian Russell almost had ten interceptions (man he was bad though haha), and we started the season 6-0. Only to miss the playoffs. Josh McCown.
It was definitely a roller coaster.
2004 was fun with Daunte putting up Jedi Knight numbers. Beating the Pack at Lambeau in the playoffs was sweet.
2000 was great, right up to 41-donut.
2007 was awesome, with Adrian's coming out parties against Chicago and San Diego standing out in my mind.
Thinking about some of these seasons actually makes me feel sick to my stomach. I guess I am too young to have learned not to heavily invest myself into something as frivolous as sports, but I can't help myself. My dad has tried telling me over the years that you will become numb to it, etc, as he watched all four Super Bowl teams, and for him the last straw was 1998. He still cheers hard, but 2009 didn't hurt for him like it did for a lot of us. I find myself at a sense of loss whenever we lose a game, so this last year was a rough one. It's been a rough existence, really.
I guess I have a problem haha. Honestly, if the Vikings can win one Super Bowl in my lifetime, while I am still cognizant of the fact that they did, I will be the happiest man on the face of the Earth. I still love this team, despite everything.

Frazier era was a dark time for this franchise. AP's MVP season was great but anyone could have said "Dude, hand it to 28"

Even though the 70s team were my favorite because They were a complete team who were dominant on both sides of the ball the 2009 team comes a close 2nd. I love how we played with guts and courage. The 1998 team to me just failed me too bad to be my favorite team. Our defense wasn't very good. Our offense was so good it made up for the weak defense and covered it up. So despite the remarkable offensive season the team as a whole was lacking for me.

The 1998 team by far. That team was so awesome to watch. It wasn't IF they would win, it was by how much.

Not true. Dyslexic people would have been making the call to handoff to Kyle RudolphNextQuestion wrote:Frazier era was a dark time for this franchise. AP's MVP season was great but anyone could have said "Dude, hand it to 28"

Re: Favorite Vikings Team of all time.
Currently, it would have to be 2009, if for nothing else than so many dramatic wins. The game-winning toss to Greg Lewis (a game I stupidly stopped watching at the two minute warning, because I thought it was over
), Baltimore's last-second missed field goal, Favre beating his old team twice in stunning fashion, me having a bad feeling right before the NFCC game that he would screw us. My #### house almost got destroyed that night...scared the hell out of my friends.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I'm not traumatized.............really!
But hey, the year we finally win it all...that will instantly become my new favorite team/year.
