Which QB Do We Get in 2014

Post by KilgoreT »

OK so this team is done for the year, so moving forward we have a chance to get a real QB in the draft. Who would be your top 5 picks for a QB (in order of your preference) for us to draft?

Hmm, top 5 would probably be CB, NT, OLB, ILB, S so which ever QB can play defense.

I agree hopefully Freeman will be at least servicable so we can draft on the defense.

Ponder and Cassel and someone else. Figure Ponder to start, Cassel in a backup role, and a top 10 draft pick as the 3rd string QB.

No reason to rush things, right?

(Actually, it's rather amazing just how screwed the Vikings are and will be for years.)

Fun "never-going-to-happen" idea:

Sign Ducks' head coach Mark Helfrich
Sign QB Marcus Mariota

Run that f*cking ridiculous high-octane Chip Kelly offense with Mariota/Peterson.

Or, you know, do the same but with Kevin Sumlin and Johnny Manziel.

Watch something happen that's not this train wreck. Might be a new train wreck, which is fine, right, because it's new?

But to answer the question: there are a lot of guys that would be exciting prospects. I'm fully on board the Manziel train if we can't get Bridgewater, Boyd or Mariota. But I agree with the poster that hoped they could also play DB with some efficiency.

Whoever it is they better find some players or coaching at O-line to protect the guy....or it will be more of the same.

are my Top 3 hands down. After that it's a cluster. Manziel*, Mariota*, Carr, Mettenberg, Fales, Murray, Hogan*, Morris, McCarron.

*underclassmen.
You are sleeping on Mannion. He has been very impressive. He throws some very precise passes including some beautiful fade routes that other qb's just can't do. I watched both this year and I'd take Mannion over Hundley if you want a true pocket qb.

Well currently the Vikings would be picking 5th in the draft. The teams ahead of them. The Steelers, the Giants, the Bucs, and the Jags. So, how many QB choices will be left after those 4?

Neither the Steelers or Giants will pick a QB in the first round. So the Vikings would likely get 3rd crack.

While that could come to pass, particularly if the Vikings decide to part ways with Leslie Frazier, what reason would Cassel have to opt out? He came here as a backup and accepted that role for a nice salary. He'll be a backup next year. He's happy watching from the sidelines.

Johnny Manziel would be my pick, he has shown that he can win in the big games and in only two years of division 1 ball.,similar stature of Drew Brees with a lot more speed. with our line he'll need to be able to move
