Notable NFL News (cuts, signings, injuries, etc.)

Post by Funkytown »

So far:

Donte' Stallworth

Josh Cribbs (Unfortunate...this guy is good!)

Aaron Curry (What is this guy's problem? Picked 4th overall. What a waste.)

Kenny Phillips

Shaaaaaaaaaank! I just love saying that, or maybe typing it in this case. Was really hoping he could land a spot with the Ravens. Darn it anyhow!

In other news: Looks like the Cards are looking to get rid of Ryan Williams. People loved him coming out of the draft, but the dude just can't say healthy. I've followed his career pretty closely (not that there's much to follow), because my ex is actually really, really good friends with him. They lived next door to each other at Virginia Tech. I try to keep up with his career, and I root for the guy, but eh. He better do something quick or his NFL career is going to be short-lived! Looks like they are looking to trade him, or maybe even just release him. We'll see!

Bills waived WR Da'Rick Rogers, who a lot of guys wanted us to draft. Talented kid but kind of an idiot that fell out of the draft due to character concerns. Not the type the Vikings will likely look at.

Just sucks. I enjoyed watching him.

Braylon Edwards just got cut, too. ESPN decided to text me that, so it must be important. :)

I'm really surprised Curry turned out to be a bust, he looked like he had a ton of potential coming out of college.

2013 notable cuts

Chase Minnifield - DB - Free Agent

Redskins waived CB Chase Minnifield.

The Minnifield cut surprised Redskins beat writers, who'd expected him to make the final 53. Washington is hoping to stash him on its practice squad.

I kinda liked what Minnifield brought to the table when he came out of Virginia. I wonder if he's fully recovered from his microfracture surgery. Perhaps worth a look.

Who does GB have as their backup then?

Pretty sure I already had a thread for this, pal. Look about 5-7 slots down.

It's all good, though. I just know if this was in the Vikings section someone would have made a comment about it. It's fine. ;)

I have to admit, I was shocked to hear that the Packers let go of Young. Did he look like crap the last game, or what?

Thanks, pal! :D I was going to be confused for the future when I wanted to post more notable cuts, because I know they are coming!

Austin Collie got cut by SF.

Was pretty good with Manning before all the injuries. Was leading the NFL in receptions during a season before a concussion took him out. Might be an interesting pickup for someone, vikings full at WR though

Steelers released RB Jonathan Dwyer. That's really odd. He looked good for them, and I thought they were thin at RB? Weird.

John Clayton ‏@ClaytonESPN
The Steelers have 12 new players on the roster. The Eagles have 20.
