Re: ** Official 2013 Draft Thread **
Rogers must have REALLY upset someone there during the interviews and the word got out about him. Either that, or his twitter feud with Baccari Rambo was just too tough to deal with. After all, established players are apparently prime for being replaced as a result of having opinions on twitter.

We have enough of a combination rookie, FA and 2nd year guys to mold to grab some 7th rnd WR to work with.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

Zac Dysert is still on the board, too, which is kinda weird. As is Bray, but unless Bray gets a brain transplant, I'm not surprised.

It's bizarre. There are a lot of fans that scream "shut up and play", but most of those fans can do their jobs, some maybe quite well, and still have opinions about things that they feel they need to share. That's partly why Facebook is so popular. I want to think that NFL execs can see past that knee-jerk stuff, but apparently not so much.losperros wrote: Amen to that, Rus. Weird, huh?
It's my only guess. Seeing Cobi Hamilton go before him pretty much made me think that apparently something was very wrong with Rogers.losperros wrote: Back to Rogers, well, something sure has given everyone cold feet about him.

A rifle is great but you have to be able to hit what you're shooting at. Pressure Bray and he can get wildly inaccurate. I realize some don't want to hear this but Bray's career was made by Patterson and Hunter making circus catches on some not so great throws. I didn't see all of Tennessee's games but that's how it looked from the games I did see. Just my two cents.hibbingviking wrote:with a rifle like tyler bray has, some team should have taken a chance.
That said, I agree that he should have been picked by R5 or R6. He definitely has a rocket launcher for arm strength.

It looks like nearly the whole defensive backfield of Rutgers was drafted.

he didn't look very bright with jon gruden. but neither did landry jones or nassib imo. he must have been horrible in team interviews.

I wasn't here for the fun yesterday but I really enjoyed reading through all the punter talk and the discussion of late round picks. It was rabid fandom in action!
As with every draft, only time will tell if the Vikes did well or not but at this point, I like what they did and I think this draft actually has the potential to be as good or better as last year's in terms of immediate impact. Hopefully, both will have a positive impact on the team for years to come.
I like the Locke pick and that has nothing to do with Kluwe's outspoken personality (which I enjoy) but rather the potential upgrade I think Locke represents.
I really like Baca pick. He seems like the type of player who could eventually prove to be a steal.
Hodges and Mauti can both play and could both make significant contributions as rookies. The latter's injury history is obviously a huge concern but that's why he fell to R7 and he was certainly worth a shot at that point.
Bond and Dawkins both sound like solid 7th rounders, players with talent that may need developing but with the ability to perhaps emerge as backups or more down the road.
I can imagine as many as 5 good, long-term starters emerging from this draft and if it works out that well, it will be resounding success!

Re: ** Official 2013 Draft Thread **
I'm very intrigued with the two PSU LB's. That Penn St. program went through a lot of turmoil for circumstances that had nothing really to do with that current roster. With everyone transferring out and being under the microscope like that, and to come out with a winning season like they did...That takes a lot of high quality guys and great leaders.
Reading the scouting report on these guys you see things like "upstanding citizen" and "strong leadership qualities," among others. These guys probably played an integral role in the success that Penn St. had and given the circumstances, these are guys that potentially won't get frazzled by anything that comes their way and on top of being proven leaders, they're solid football players too.
I see you Spielman.
