Its stupid, just like most rules the NFL is comings out with. They are afraid of lawers, and they want to put more power in the hands of Refs. Pretty soon it will be as exciting as watching girls basketball.

This is a HUGE move that could really change the game. There will undoubtedly be some unforeseen consequences if this goes through.
You don't understand the rule. You can still lower your head and slam into your offensive line all you'd like. But if you want to hit your own linemen with the crown of your helmet, then you've got bigger problems than not understanding the rule.

deacon jones, jack tatum, john lynch, greg lloyd, steve atwater, dick lane, andre waters, mike alstott and ronney lott would be offended how soft the nfl is getting.

They played a clip from Emmit Smith on ESPN saying what a stupid and unsafe rule it was.
Dude - are you seriously listening to Rush Limbaugh?
Okay no one seems to know this, and I don't know if the this thread is dead or not, but here we go.
This rule seems to be for running backs, clearly. Obviously the play that comes to mind for this rule is Trent Richardson popping that safety in the eagles game. But I'm thinking to the play for the 09 Vikings where Peterson leveled Gay. I looked it up and had forgotten he was a receiver on that play. Does anyone know if what he did would be illegal?

Check that. Shoulda looked at your article first, Poet.
Instead of leading with your head down(eyes to the ground) they want your eyes up(like every offensive/defensive linemen was trained)
That sounds like a bigger hazard to the player's neck than leading with your eyes down. Take a shoulder to the forehead because you're looking ahead and your neck snaps back sounds alot more painful than jamming your neck.
