Skol, Adrian Peterson. We are fortunate to be witnesses to true greatness. The argument for best of all time will only grow in the coming years.

I disagree, I think it's a consolation award to Manning by voters who didn't vote him MVP or Offensive Player of the Year.headless_norseman wrote: No surprise there. Voters will treat a neck injury as more serious than an ACl.

I think so too. When Manning won the Comeback Player of the Year award, it was a fait accompli that Peterson was MVP, especially because he had already been named Offensive Player of the Year.glg wrote: I disagree, I think it's a consolation award to Manning by voters who didn't vote him MVP or Offensive Player of the Year.

Thanks for that. Amazing stuff.PotGoblin wrote:For further proof of his greatness in addition to the 4 awards he won tonight (from Vikings.com) -
Dang, I'm proud of Adrian Peterson! He should have been Comeback Player as well, though Manning did go through a lot to be able to play again.

The national sports media loves to slight or not give full credit to the Vikings or their players any chance they get. Not surprised by the wording chosen there.808vikingsfan wrote:I don't get ESPN.
This is their headline for the MVP winner: The voting? Peterson received 30½ votes from a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the NFL. Manning, who also won the Comeback Player of the Year award, got the other 19½ votes for MVP.
Now if you read the rest of the article, the comment for comback player of the year: To be consistent, they should change it to "Peterson easily beats Manning for MVP" or "Manning edges Peterson for comback player of the year."
I am so happy for AP, I believe he took four awards tonight? Fantasy POY, offensive POY, FedEx Ground, and MVP if I am not mistaken. Fantastic for him and the purple. I thought it was great that Favre was sitting with Leslie and AP as well, put a smile on my face

MVP
MVP Peterson Yes He deserve the win, I like what peterson said, next the super bowl.
Re: Adrian Peterson Named MVP. Manning Comeback Player.
Nah on the Vikings disdain argument. Adrian Peterson had the greatest return from torn ACL - MCL in NFL history, far better than Jerry Rice, for example, who tried but could not sustain it the whole season.
But Manning's injury had the mystique. They played it up as, ooh he cannot make the throws. Then wow, it turned out he could. Far less impressive than AD. They also undersold AD on its happening week 15 on the flimsy argument he did not miss much time absurd given his coming back Week 1 was the ultimate comeback, perhaps the greatest comeback in NFL history given his MVP season. But Manning's missing a season was much bigger to Voters.
Oh well, happy with MVP for AD and HOF for CC. Not a bad day at all.

Jamaal Charles' mom got to vote?PotGoblin wrote:Vote wasn't as close for comeback player of the year as I originally thought it would be -
Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos QB 31.5
Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings RB 17.5
Jamaal Charles, Kansas City Chiefs RB 1

Didn't really hear much about this, but regardless, here it is:
